A NeoGAF forumite going by the moniker "Raoul Duke" recently uncovered a timeworn Easter egg hidden within the folds of the aquatic GameCube racer, Wave Race: Blue Storm -- and appropriately enough, this egg is awfully rotten. By entering in a super-obscure code on the game's audio settings screen, players can change the typically pleasant (and omnipresent) pit crew commenter to a sardonic so-and-so who talks smack about your every action.
You can check out a video of this old-new Easter egg posted just after the jump, or, if you feel like taking a hit to your self-esteem for some reason, you can learn the arcane measures you have to follow to find the secret voice track over on NeoGAF.

Maybe this will make Nintendo go "You know what was in the news on Joystiq Saturday? Wave Race. Hey, we forgot all about that game, our bad...we should TOTALLY get off our asses and start making a new one."
I would definitely support that. Or at least if they came out and said they'll make a new one....they don't have to admit they forgot about the franchise or anything.

To me, it's not the fact that cheat codes (through Game Shark, etc.) should have been made to activate this sort of thing. We have methods of exploring game content through computers, so I would have thought somebody who extracted the game audio would have found this by now.

@FireThief I personally think that's B.S. All it takes is a ROM and some exploring tools for people to find all there is to know about a certain game. Wave Race: Blue Storm appealed to a much smaller audience, so I can understand how it might have taken this long for people to discover it. But that's Mortal Kombat, and it's been out for 16 years at this point. I'd say we've found everything by now.
