The upside is that the majority are probably shmups. Plus, one of the 'shooting games' is bound to be Vanquish. That's win/win.

Zelda, Okami = Adventure

Some games could be both. Games like Zelda have action and adventure, though not as much action as say Ratchet and Clank, God of War, or Ninja Gaiden

@PN04 - Hell, there are JRPGs from the previous gen that I still haven't gotten around to yet, so I'm relieved for the break as well. Just hope it isn't a sign of things to come, but I doubt it will be; seems like a temporary lull more than anything else.

I'm guessing about half of those 157 peripherals are sex-related add-ons for games and the other half weren't intended to be sex-related but... well... it's Japan.

ew thats just overall terrible, the only good thing is more shooters.... peripherals most often tend to be annoying and others... well what the heck is other supposed to be? I would have more liked to see more RPG's as well as action and adventure games. I kinda agree with less puzzle games considering most often they just keep releasing the same stuff over and over... aka the 5 bajilion tetris games

See, that's the problem, Japan; its not that you make too many RPGS....its the fact that 99% of them are literally the exact same game re-skinned. I love RPGs, but considering I am no longer gaming in the years of the PS1 I need something other than what you generally offer. Also, considering I am a big boy with bills, a family, rent, etc....I do not want every damn RPG you put out to exceed 60-70 hours by default. Game like Oblivion where I can make it as long as I want to is perfect because I can do new things everytime I pop the game in...JRPGs are almost always the exact same thing over and over and over. Only series I can tolerate like that anymore seems to the Shin Megami Tensei...anything.

@sammo21 yeh but Oblivion have shitty character design on character personalization, horrible weapon armor design poor plot and poor populated world with NO comrades to help you i'm you quest. in oblivion (and fallout 3) you are alone NPC don't have personalties they are just a robots giving you quests. J-rpg is a story, characters and awesome design, for me it's more appealing than open world of loneliness that oblivion and fallout 3 is yes sometimes J-rpgs repeat themselves but i'm totally fine with that it's not like they are exactly same only some parts.

@DokiDokiBawanga JRPG's are horrible cliched stories with the same androgynous characters featuring a main character who always has an extreme case of amnesia. Japanese games follow the same rote formula all the time, which is why Japanese developers are starting to look outside the country for new ideas. The sad thing is that annoying Japanophiles will defend the lack of innovation and blindly buy anything that has anything to do with Japan.

Haters gonna hate. now back to your stupid halolz, GoWs and FPSes in RPG disguise.

Lack of RPGs makes me sad. There are hardly any at E3 these days, so it was relied on the good people across the Pacific to come through and deliver the soon-to-be-localized goods.

Japan, it IS possible to innovate and spurn the Japanese gaming market back to former glory without completely denying your roots :(

I was honestly hoping that Japan would come up with a new RPG formula sooner than this, and yet they still haven't, not really. I love a good rpg with a fun game system that supports the plot, sure enough. But they do need to take more chances. Rather than take more chances with alternate RPGs though it looks like they are just cutting back on them since they don't sell as well as they used to. Shame, japan. I'm hoping that some of those Others COULD be rpg-type games that are so far from the formula that they defy the RPG categorization, but I don't have my hopes up that high.
