Also, after going through the pics a bit more, the expo seems pretty cool. Is there any way for the public to get a pass or are all these "play the game before its out" events strictly limited to the press? If they are, that sucks.

Usually $55 for the whole weekend.
And as for how you could not know, I can only assume you 1) don't read Penny Arcade ever, and 2) don't read gaming sites in September for the last 6 years. :)

PAX is all about the public - the gamers. 3-day passes are like $45 or so (been a couple years since ive been). One day passes are much worse at $20/day. It's a fantastic time, I highly recommend it. Wish I still lived in Seattle...

@scratchh It's meant for the public, but as the DNF news proves, more devs and press are seeing PAX as a post-E3 place to break news and announce games.
