I really appreciate your occasional indie games coverage, Justin. SpyParty sounds amazing.

@SubEngy And yet, people still accuse him of only being into the hip, popular big-budget games.

I too appreciate his contributions to that part of the industry.

@Shadowbender Between telling me about Sleep Is Death and this game, McElroy's contribution to my indie awareness has been great.

@SubEngy Maybe Justin really lucked into finding this hidden gem in the rough, but Kotaku has covered this game twice in the last month or so, and that seems a little suspect to me.

@hardeho I know, right? A game's at PAX and I do a preview of it? I smell a rat.

@JustinMcElroy

Yeah Justin I don't think 2 sites can cover the same game, I think you're just pretending to cover the game so that we don't suspect you when it all goes down.

Head for the hills people.

@JustinMcElroy or maybe you had read something about the game and purposely went to find it. Unlike the tone of your article that makes it seem like you almost passed this little shack in the corner of PAX and decided to drop in to see what it was.

@hardeho

Shock horror. That could totally not have happened ever!

I mean, it is so unfeasible that someone could be walking around and see something in a non in your face spot and go and have a look at it.

@scratchh It's not just that. He's also planning other game modes, but he wants to get the core gameplay finished first.

this sounds great. given the uniqueness of the gameplay and the fact that the final product is still a few years out, i see some really good quality stuff coming from this guy in the future.

I heard about this a long time ago and saw some VERY, VERY rough footage. This is a game i'd pay 10 bucks on steam for. It just sounds phenomenal.

Throw in a TF2 hat for the spy and sniper and you got yourself a deal.

Sounds pretty awesome, although I wonder what the odds are that it'll be released under the title of SpyParty when it is ready. I know it doesn't get much more direct in description, but then it also makes me think mini-game bonanza

A direct descendant of Sleep Is Death!!! And these are the games that this author claimed to be waiting for in his own review of Sleep Is Death. Brilliant!

A game like this would do really well on iOS/Android devices. I hope this can make it out before it gets poorly ripped off.

It sounds a really ingenuitive game idea but one I'm not sure if would be extremely popular. I always want these unique indie ideas to succeed and then breed more unique ideas, but many of these ideas get lost in the flood of high budget, low uniqueness, games from the major publishers and developers.

Wiiware, XBLA, PSN and Steam are great platforms which help make the future of gaming less bland.

I remember reading about this somewhere at least a year or so back. Definitely sounds like a fun game of "cat-n-mouse".

Like previously mentioned, AC:B sounds like this it what it's going to do, but with more players and on a much grander scale.

Definitely seems like a very cool gaming concept. I hope that there's going to be different scenarios/missions though that keep in line with this.

This sounds like a really cool concept. I wonder how the story and character interactions with lean into the mechanic... anyways, would be awesome to see this on PS3!

Has anyone heard of The Ship? In a way it is kind of like SpyParty

It's gameplay is based on hunting a human player while on a ship full of NPCs. It runs on the source engine and is a really fun game to play

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ship_%28video_game%29

Check it out and get your wits ready for SpyParty

This make me remember a card game where depending on your card, you could be the assassin, the police or one of the victims. Through very small movements, the assassin would 'kill' every victim, and the police has to find who the assassin is. Generally the move was just an eye blink.

I like this. I would totally pay for it.
