Gears of War 3's 'Fate of Carmine' campaign raises $150K for Child's Play

The fate of Gears of War 3's Clayton Carmine is sealed. Epic Games' Cliff Bleszinski and Rod Fergusson wouldn't reveal what fate would ultimately befall the latest Carmine, but announced that the "Fate of Carmine" campaign has raised $150,000 for Child's Play.

Although the promotion/charity event ended September 1, it appears that the shirts are still available for purchase (SAVE CARMINE Male, Female / CARMINE MUST DIE Male, Female) on the Xbox Marketplace. We're sure that buying the apparel now won't affect Clayton's chance at survival, but it's unclear if the proceeds still go to charity -- we're following up with Microsoft.

Update: The shirts should no longer be available, therefore the whole promotion is over.

Many many times over in multiplayer no doubt.

Anytime I'm in a MP match and I get stuck with Carmine all I can think is awe crap I'm gonna die.

why save Carmine?

this guy should die like all the others, it's fuc**ing tradition. Im hoping no im praying that in gears 3 that marcus reloads his gun and it goes off and it shoots carmine right in the face and marcus says oops.

that will make gears 3 GOTY.

I'm all for tradition

How to either make everyone happy or piss everyone off: Make Carmine undead. I would like to see how that would work out.

He's gotta be something more special than the other Carmines to deserve to live, and if not, then they must keep up tradition and make him die, but for our sakes make it some extrodinary way to finish of the Carmine family (For the record, I want him dead)

I think it would be hilarious if there isn't a Carmine to be found in the game, period.

Damn it, i can't believe I forgot to buy one of these shirts, I was going to get the save Carmine one. This was actually a really ingenious way to both promote the game and help out people at the same time, Epic, I approve :).

I kind of expected them to end up doing a "Saving Private Carmine" chapter, where you had to go off and rescue him, because all his brothers had died... maybe they still will.

150 grand? Man, that's a pretty impressive little donation there. Child's Play is going to end up starting off the year with a half million bucks or so this time around, considering the number of charity things going on for it already.

And personally, I hope he lives.

I see mostly "Save Carmine" on my friends list, so maybe there's hope.

That's really, really great. What a neat way to raise money for a good cause. I voted to save Carmine, myself. I picked up that slick Child's Play avatar shirt too.

I don't really care about gears of war, but that's awesome that they were able to raise so much for a great charity.
