Gameplay footage of inFamous 2's new "Ravager" enemy has burrowed itself into the bottom this post. If you're keen to see Cole's new melee attacks in this souped-up sequel -- or just the return of his original design -- just click the play icon and you'll zap right to it.
@Bearcut I'm really looking forward for this game, and Batman Arkham City as well. Not many people say good things about the first Force Unleashed, but it would be great if the second one turns out awesome.
Because the movement and force abilities were, essentially broken in that game. But I had fun with it despite those faults. Some environments seemed rather uninspired in their implementation, but it wasn't a bad game over all. I seemed like they rushed it out, which is strange because it shouldn't have been necessary to do that at all.
That YouTube format there is hot though... with the yellow.
Hopefully White Knight Chronicles 2 will be epic. I mean, the first wasn't great, but it was still playable. I'd like for the second one to blow peoples' socks off.
Valkyria Chronicles and Valkyria Chronicles 2.
Also; Demon's Souls 2 anyone? (We need a Demon's Souls 2)
I don't really want to know any more about those, it was bad enough they showed it in the trailer for me, probably would have been the coolest part of the plot, pun not intended.
@MICHAEL ATKINSON I was thinking the same thing. All the people are just running around the area like headless chickens instead of getting far away from there. "Oooh I'm crouching in fear beside this cab that'll surely protect me. Oh shit that monster is on the same side as me and it's spitting poisonous mucous! I better run towards it!" o_O
The game looks good though. I don't see the melee being a whole lot more interesting than the first, but maybe that's just 'cause they're keeping the best stuff out of the demos.
To each there own sir, but I didn't find the first game worth the 65.69 I paid for it at retail. Was just too simple and the campaign didn't last long enough. I don't get why I got downvoted, I didn't say anything negative lawl.
@Anticrawl you disagree with the masses, hence the down vote. It's use is far from limited to troll swatting...
side note IMO, if you didn't get your money's worth from the first one then you're likely not into the super-power-open-world genre as I and I suspect about all the other posters here think it was an amazing game (to the extent that it was the reason I got a PS3 and still one of the few reasons why I keep it... but again, that's just me)
@Paranoimia Likely they used the same technique that JJ Abrams used for the Smokemonster on Lost or that Lucas used for half the sound effects on Starwars, Combining several animals together, creating a sounds that's somewhat familiar but still a little alien.
This looks so amazing. I enjoyed the first one, but the combat wasn't exactly awesome. With this improvement this could be potential top game of the year (if it's even possible for a single player game to be top game anymore).
I understand that they are trying to put a bigger emphasis on melee but really, All I really see so far is that they just gave him a weapon... that does nothing but give him more powerful 'punches'.
It's not really innovative or new. It's flashy and that's pretty much it. Is there any actual use for it outside of hitting people with it? When I saw that glorious double pronged rod of lightning, I was thinking that you would charge it up and swing balls of electricity with a baseball bat motion but you just... hit people with it.
Might as well just give him a crowbar.
I can't say that I'm not excited for the game, I just don't understand this emphasis on melee. Why improve something that no one cared for in the first place?
@ZGiSH You know when the first Infamous was being shown off before it released everyone just said "He uses the same attack over and over that stupid lightning attack" and guess what? When the game came out the powers were varied and fun to play with! I'm sure it'll be the same here where you can upgrade your melee weapon to do fancier stuff.
@ZGiSH I'm intruiged by the possibility that mele may have a purpose in this one, I think it would make the fighting a lot more dynamic (99% of the time in the first one you could just snipe with infinite free electric balls so why take the risk of getting eaten?) and therefore engaging. But I do have to agree that the use of an electrified, whatever it is (why not give him a tried and true katana, everyone likes them, and anything metal he trouches should be electrified so...) seems pointless... worst graphical effect is the weapon going through guys as he hits them, so just... why?
I hope Sony shows a lot of confidence in this one. I'd like to think I've got an eye for quality. Jack wasn't kidding when he introduced i2 at E3 as being like what Uncharted 2 did beyond its predecessor.
I love the old Cole and all, but I would really like it if they left the Cole 2.0 skin in the game as an unlockable or something. The new design did look pretty cool.
@Mach2 I suspect unlockable, or DLC, they have the skin, why not cash in on it at some point... and the fury from cole 1.0 purists will just stir up the internet and get more free press...
