Star Wars: The Old Republic trailer requests your silence, meatbags
29
Wondering when you'd get a chance to see that meatbag-hating droid HK-47 make his return? This latest Star Wars: The Old Republic trailer delivers just that. Also, it seems KotOR's Darth Revan will make an appearance in the game. Hope he'll be happy to see us!

I have to agree. Not that TOR looks bad, but it just doesn't look all that different from most other MMOs. The quests being given with full dialogue and a bit of a cutscene are nice but the gameplay looks pretty ho-hum (a mob standing in the middle of the room just taking laser shots?). The thing that really struck me was when around 1:34 they were showing Revan's lair (or whatever) and you see all these mobs standing there bunched up in groups just waiting for the players to come in. I mean come on, couldn't you at least give 'em small patrol routes or something. (and yeah, I know it's a trivial and tiny "issue" but it's just one of those things I was hoping we would not see in a BioWare MMO)

Revan? Isn't this game years later? Past his lifespan I mean..

Yeah, glancing through some stuff, apparently Darth Sidious (Emperor Palpatine if I remembered his Darth name right) survived his fall in the Death Star, not directly, but because he had a cloning station readied for himself.
So who knows, maybe he had something akin to that, or maybe he used the force, or god knows what else is possible with enough retcons...

@DevilSei I really hope they don't do that...not having a 'true' sequel is bad enough :/

@ToolroomKnight hence rebirth. We're just going to have to play the game to find out (or wait for the inevitable spoilers that will come out after the game is released.)

@commonperson This whole rebirth thing is irking me...it seems that's what Bioware is about now. Rebirth of characters (Shepard and supposedly Revan), cheap plot device IMO. Not saying I'm a better writer, I'll let the community judge my short stories when I get a CC license. Crap, I digressed...rebirth of Bioware...I mean...ME2 and now DA2 are waaay more streamlined and casual-ified...sigh

@MrAlex He never said that Palpatine was involved, just that Revan may have used a device similar to the one Palpatine later used.

@ToolroomKnight they kinda of left it ambiguous, so for all we know he could be referring to how the jedi mind wiped Revan like we discovered in KOTOR, only the guy asks what was Revan's final fate because it was not terribly common knowledge. On the other hand, he could have undergone some magical sith alchemy jazz in the unknown regions

@dogcow it was established canonically, that Revan is male and the Exile female. Like it better the other way round..but aw well..

Theres a cool restoration mod for KOTOR 2 (not the Team Gizka one), and an upcoming graphical overhaul one. Can't find the links, kinda limited from a phone...

Well, guess this puts the quash on KOTOR 3 once and for all, at least a KOTOR 3 that follows Revan. Not sure what to think of this, I hope that shadow looming over his helmet was HK-47 and not Revan himself, don't think I really want to see Revan and have him contrast with how I played him. But i mean, holy shit HK-47!

@TheDarkWayne Even without a PC, i lurked through the internet good sir and found links to both:
Restoration Mod: www.deadlystream.com/forum/tslrcm/10-tslrcm-download.html
Improvement Mod: www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=196622&page=7
When I get the chance I'll compile a list of other good singleplayer mods, such as the upcoming Snatcher one for Crysis.
