Sure, the weather in Tokyo may be frightful right now, but there's good reason to fly over for TGS. The latest issue of Famitsu has revealed a sequel to Edgeworth-starring adventure Ace Attorney Investigations. According to a Siliconera report, Capcom's new courtroom caper will include new kinds of game systems, including one that's supposedly chess-like. (How appropriate!)
Further investigation has yet to reveal additional details, but we can deduce using logic (and enthusiasm) that Ace Attorney fans will demand an English localization. Any rebuttals?

You know what they should do? Make Franziska a playable character in the game.

I feel the same way, I was hoping the sequel would use a different prosecutor, and Franziska was exactly who I wanted. Complete with a "whipping" button.

While I'm sad that Apollo Justice 2 isn't next on the docket, this is Capcom's chance to explain why Lang hated prosecutors so much. It was like a carrot dangled the whole game where I was hoping for some deep backstory revelation that never came. I loved Lang's character; I just wanted to know more about his reasoning. Kay better come back too. She was probably the most useful sidekick the Ace Attorney series has ever seen.

Ugh. Why another Investigations game? It was fun and all, but it's nothing compared to the other Ace Attorney games!
Plus, it doesn't matter how awesome of a character he may be, Edgeworth just isn't cut out to be a main character.

I think Shu Takumi has moved on to Ghost Trick, for what it's worth. I think I could feel his missing contribution in Ace Attorney Investigations.

@JoshMilewski Ghost trick was released in Japan in June, and he did work on the Investigations game.

While I am excited to hear about this, we NEED a new Phoenix game. I would have been happy with another Apollo game as well. Edgeworth is too much of a secondary character to carry TWO of his own games. Phoenix and Edgy work in tandem with each other. One without the other is odd. That said, a Franziska game WOULD be cool.

This is definitely preferred, imo, to another Apollo game, but I doubt the series will ever return to its former glory until either another Phoenix is released, or a brand new defense attorney is featured.

In spite of all the Apollo hate, I do feel the first AAI was sadly a misstep. While they're both my least favorite games in the series, I actually had the urge to stop playing AAI at some point. I mean, Apollo was 'meh', but I wanted to finish it anyway.
I mean, the badgers case? What the hell?!
Anyway, all I fear is that this new game fails and goes down at the last Ace Attorney game to be, at least, localized to America.

I feel the opposite to what you are saying but yes the last two have been complete disappointments in the series. In Apollo's game it was just some of the characters fall into the anime trappings so badly that I just skipped some of the dialog.

I'm excited for the game, and I'm a big fan of Edgeworth's, but I'd still prefer an Ace Attorney game.
Phoenix Wright is suffering the same crap as Sonic and Sora -- he's getting his spotlight stolen from other characters of the series.
Not that I don't like those characters, but putting more emphasis back on the REAL protagonist would be welcome.

@Onomah
lol I saw that but what I meant was like actually speaking to him or he appears in a way like larry did in the final case.
I did really like that touch with phoenix, maya and pearls in the boat.
