Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam getting first showing at TGS
45
EA has been mum on Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam since announcing the multiplayer-only expansion during its E3 press conference three months ago. But Battlefield Community Manager zh1nt0 says that's about to change. "I am going to Tokyo Game Show to showcase Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam for the first time," he said on the studio's Battlefield Blog.
He reiterated the original feature set – "4 brand new maps built in Frostbite, as well as Vietnam specific weapons, vehicles, persistence, unlocks, and achievements/trophies" – and, well, that's about it. We're shipping out to Tokyo next week where we'll rendezvous with the expansion and deliver the intel back here. Still think they're going to hit that "this winter" release window?

I think he/she was kidding. How much different could Bad Company Vietnam be from Battlefield Vietnam? They say there's going to be Vietnam era weapons and vehicles, something Battlefield Vietnam already has. The only difference I could see is updated graphics and gameplay elements (like Destruction 2.0).

@jynxycat I hated Battlefield Vietnam. The helicopters were way overpowered. The Vietnam setting sucks as a video game. Something disturbing about theHanoi Jane over the loud speaker telling me my wife was having sex with another guy back home really bothered me.

What kind of Destruction 2.0 will you have in Vietnam? Grass hut crushing you?

It's only going to have 4 maps. It's not a full game, just an expansion. Probably going to be in the $10-$20 range.

I sure hope that its 4 full maps and not 2 maps in 2 different modes... I also hope it works with Onslaught mode. C'mon DICE!

There better be a scoped M14 in this. Not being able to but optics on the M14 EBR was/is idiotic.

The fact that they teased us in their VIP map pack trailers with scoped G3s' and M14s' was even MORE idiotic if you ask me. Even after the game was out they kept showing videos of scoped M14s' and G3s' , now that's the most idiotic thing ever.

Looks like EA is gonna milk DICE for all their old game assets until their game-producing-udders fall right off.
What I really want is some more 1943 map-love right now.

I almost think this should be free. The whole VIP thing has been a joke. They really have added no new maps. Instead of changing small things about existing maps, they should've spent time making new ones. I'm kind of "over" the game now. I was addicted but got burnt out on playing the two or three cool maps I liked.

I just got back to playing it after a break of a few months and am loving it, especially onslaught mode with friends. However, I had gotten burnt out on the same few maps over and over.
The 'map packs' were disappointing to say the least. I guess their man power was going towards the development of this Vietnam expansion and the already released Onslaught mode. I love Battlefield so anything is better than nothing for me but I really do wonder what the higher ups at EA are thinking sometimes.

Just my opinion, but isn't the concept of an in-game radio station and soundtrack a bit of a disconnect for a BFBC multiplayer game? Sound plays such a huge role in gameplay, I can't imagine listening to tunes while I'm trying to stalk through the jungle. How can you hear the enemy?

Hey, for everyone bitching about map prices ... you play, what? 200+ hours of gameplay on BFBC, and even if the 'Nam expansion is $20, you get four new maps ... do the math. That's pennies per map over the course of the amount of time you're playing these games.
Why are gamers such damn tightwads?
