Dissidia Duodecim: Final Fantasy coming to PSP next year
57
Square Enix just revealed in the latest issue of Shonen Jump (via Siliconera) that a sequel to Dissidia: Final Fantasy will arrive on Japanese PSPs sometime in 2011. Titled "Dissidia Duodecim: Final Fantasy," the new fighter was created specifically as a challenge to website copy editors.
Outside of FFIV's Kain and FFXIII's Lightning, no other playable characters have been confirmed. We get the feeling you'll see an expanded roster of fan-favorite brawlers at next week's Tokyo Game Show.

I haven't even scraped the surface of the first game, but something tells me I'll still get this one if it's good.

What's wrong with handhelds?
I guess you just carry your PS3 around everywhere, huh?

@Cypher FDP I don't like enough games on each one to justify the purchase.
On PSP there is Persona.
On DS there is Pokemon, Dragon Quest and maybe Zelda
That's all that really gets me stoked on each platfom. It's strange I played the hell out of my GBA and then kinda fell off. Although I am thinking of getting a 3DS (or a DSi as a throw away boredom breaker)
Also yes initial comment was a cock up on my part.

I guess "Dissidia 2" was just too pedestrian for you, huh Square?
Anyway, this is good news. I've been playing a lot of the original lately, and that game just begged for a sequel to temper and focus its overwhelming myriad of ideas, some of which worked excellently, while others were thoroughly execrable. Not to mention it definitely needed a bigger roster of characters.
Also, how about less "story" this time SquEnix? Nobody outside of fanfic writers gives a quarter of a shit why Cloud is fighting Terra or whatever, all that matters is that it A) is happening and B) is awesome. It's a freaking crossover fighting game, it doesn't need five-minute cutscenes packed with insipid dialogue to be enjoyable.

Unless it's Kefka dialogue, Kefka was so awesome in Dissidia1!
When isn't Kefka awesome though?

Really? I thought Kefka was embarrassing in Dissidia. I mean, so were all the other characters, but Kefka really stood out. He was more Cesar Romero than Mark Hamill, so to speak.

That being the case, I'd rather they just stop trying. Dissidia itself was fun (provided you had the patience to overcome its gratuitously steep learning curve) but every time one of the characters spoke they died a little bit in my heart. Especially Terra and Kefka, who probably got the worst treatment out of them all.

HA 'enhanced'... haha and some form of DS console in the same sentence haha you crack me up... sorry, but in all honestly i think the only think it would bring to it would be 3d, apart from that I don't even think it could take the graphics, or length of the game if it is anything like the normal DS. You can probably tell, but I have never really clicked with the DS. I can see why people would like it, but I REALLY prefer the PSP.

Exactly. How idiotic of me to have predicted that a highly anticipated title made for the platform would not be supported on a system that is less than a year old. And Sony have screwed themselves out of my loyalty and faith that they will stand behind their platforms. This will most definitely be reflected in my eagerness to early adopt anything else they may be planning in the future...

Well this made my day. lol plus the scan really looks awesome.
The whole Duodecim thing confuses me, being that it might be a prequel since DIssidia 1 was the 13th war or whatever.

The first one had just about the worst storyline possible and fighting was very poorly balanced so here's to hoping they go somewhere good this time around.

Whatever they do...
Bring back DreamFactory from the Tobal and Ehrgeiz era. None of this KH battle system going on here; it felt lacklustre in execution.

Anyone know if Disney owns all characters in KH? As far as I thought, they only owned the characters, locales, and stories that weren't done by Square. Do you mean to tell me they own the rights to characters like Axel or Xion? I don't see why characters that were created by Noruma couldn't be in this mash-up game.
As an aside, I didn't really like the first one, but then again I only played for a day or two.

Yesyesyesyes! Dissidia is amazing. I've got over 150 hours and I'm still not even a bit tired of the fighting system.

Know what you mean. I've played over 100 hours and still haven't even gotten the bet weapons in the game. Only maxed out two characters. Love it, can't wait for it!
