Gameloft is porting yet another one of its iOS games to the PS3 for release on PlayStation Network. Dungeon Hunter, a classic hack-and-slash adventure is getting an HD remake exclusively for Sony's console. According to GamerBytes, the PS3 version features a "dramatic artistic makeover" over the iPhone original, inviting comparisons to Torchlight.
In addition to new visuals, the PS3 version of Dungeon Hunter will boast four player cooperative multiplayer, both online and off, making it one of Gameloft's most ambitious PSN games yet. Get a glimpse of the iPhone original after the break.
Would be better to attach the trailer for the PS3 version, right? The game was announced at E3 and the full name of this game is Dungeon Hunter: Alliance
I liked it. It's basically a stripped down version of Diablo, but it's easily a cut above the vast majority of games on iOS devices. And given the price and the mobile format I can forgive it's lack of length and depth compared to the Diablo series.
However, I'm not sure how well this will translate to a console release. They'll need to keep it cheap.
I agree. Cheap like, $5 cheap, but I doubt it will be that. It will most likely be at least $10.
I wasn't too fond of how the game chugged on my iPhone. I have a 5GS (or something like that), it was brand new, and Dungeon Hunter was one of the first games I downloaded for it. From that point on, based off of the performance of the game, I decided I would never download another game for an iPhone unless it's something gimmicky like Zombie Smash, which is a blast. They should totally make something like that for Kinect. Maybe then I would think about getting one.
@Vidikron How cheap would you say? I don't know the game but it sounds pretty cool. What would you give it on a scale of 1-10; 1 being Gauntlet and 10 being Diablo.
Nice ! this reminds me of Baulders Gate Dark Alliance ( which was a awesome game series by the way ) i own Champions of Norrath but made it to the 2nd area and the game kept locking up on me but i thook the game back for another and just failed too play it anymore cause i had to restart from the beginning so i started up another game.
man i love these games and online CO-OP would make it Epic as well i already own Dark Kingdom which wasn't too bad ( hated the Camera ) but it did it's job to tide me over in that Department. So I can't wait for this game !
Well I've never heard of the original, but a hack and slash 4 player co-op local and online sounds good to me. If there's not much depth to it I wouldn't pay more than $8-10. Scott Pilgrim really set a bad precedent for developers by being such an awesome game for only $10.
Since they I going for 4 player co-op, I wonder if they will be adding a fourth class? I'm fairly certain the iPhone version only offers Warrior, Mage, and Rogue.
If not, some poor sap will get relegated to "secondary" status, and only get the cast off equipment that the primary player doesn't want.
And knowing my luck, that poor sap would end up being me. >_>
My husband and I loved playing X-Men Legends (both 1 & 2) and Baldur's Gate on Xbox with local drop-in co-op, this looks like it could be great. The problem with the aforementioned games was the story losing all cohesion about halfway through. Anyone know how the story on the iPhone version is?
I agree with the previous mentions of graphics quality in the screenshots. It looks like they need to use a real lighting engine that casts shadows and blends colored light, as well as add some shaders and bump/glow maps. (Please no more bloom lighting!!!)
Gameloft really put me off of their PS3 ports due to the awful bugs in Brain Challenge that they never fixed. The port of Earthworm Jim to "HD" was also barely passable. That being said, this is the exact kind of game we like to play together, so I'll definitely check out a demo!
