Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon teaser site opens
26
D3's Earth Defense Force 2017 wasn't a great game, but it holds a rather special place in our hearts. The campy action game had you running around, rocket launcher in hand, blasting apart swarms of giant alien invaders. Pretty much everything exploded on the screen, making it one of gaming's great guilty pleasures.
It seems like someone's prepping another title in the Earth Defense Force franchise. A teaser site reveals the new subtitle, Insect Armageddon ... and absolutely nothing else about the project. But, considering how straightforward these games tend to be, we have a pretty good idea of what to expect from this new title: insects and explosions. Lots of insects and explosions.

2017 may not have been a well made game, but it sure was funny, fun and addictive, and that makes it great.

Holy shit! I loved EDF 2017. I would have never guessed they would have made another one.
This is a great day, this really makes me happy :)
Yes make it have 4 player online co-op and it's a day one!

This is the greatest news ever! EDF is an awesome game and one of the very very few games that I haven't ever sold just because I beat it (though I still have like 2 missions to go on inferno and then I'll have everything). Very much looking forward to this new one! Unless it's on wii/DS then I'll be bummed.

EDF was incredibly hilarious in Japanese. The things the other people said were pure comedy.
Instead of calling the things insects or huge freaking ants - everyone would use the most generic term possible "Massive Life Forms!"... OMG!! Massive Life Forms are killing me! The Massive Life Forms are sucking my life away! Oh god, we cannot beat the Massive Life Forms!"
If you have the time to say "Massive Life Forms", you`re still okay.

It`s also hilarious how they only have two emotions - extremely positive and gung-ho "YES!!! Let`s do this!!! We can kill the Massive Life Forms!" or in the depths of complete and utter terror and hopelessness. "Oh god help me!! The Massive Life Forms are approaching! I am going to DIE!!!"
I can`t keep myself from laughing when they all run off in super positive mode, then within seconds start screaming that they`re out of ammo and are going to die.

One of my favourite lines in 2017 is when the announcer guy is like 'Did we wake you, spaceship? Were you sleeping?'

This is an automatic buy for me. The only thing I can ask for is online multiplayer...don't go changing the winning formula of blowing things up with awesome guns.

I bought EDF 2017 for really cheap expecting it to be a so-so game at best. I actually was really impressed with the game. I almost played it all the way through. It was among the first games I had played that you could bring down a whole building with a rocket launcher.

the next game needs only two things to make it perfect:
1. Online Coop
2. decent vehicle controls
The first one is obvious. Too bad the vehicles in 2017 were utterly useless, the idea of nuking some hives with a chopper is too cool to pass up. And I loved the weapon collection and health upgrading.
Gimme moar EDF!

Ah hell yes!
I loved 2017 when I played it solo... and even more when I showed it to my girlfriend and she ran about with missile launchers destroying every dang living larger than human thing.
Hooee... just the thought of the EndBoss gave me a better heart beat.
Lasers... lasers everywhere!
