Halo: Reach 'Deliver Hope' live-action short released in full
63
Soul-stirring music? Check! Gigantic battles and fancy special effects? Check check! That's right, folks -- it's another Halo: Reach live-action short. This time, the original "Deliver Hope" video is extended to over two minutes of apocalyptic action.
These videos are often a frustrating reminder of the Halo movie that never was -- but we can't fault them for instilling the desire to crush some Grunts.

@dv8withn8 You should really take Halo marketing with a pinch of salt, if its anything like Halo 3 where the belive advert tarnished the overall opinion of the campaign, due to the absense of that epic battle which never surfaced.
Halo CE's two betrayals level is actually the only level where a truelly epic battle occurs during gameplay throughout the series, disappointing but true. Hopefully Reach with its increased NPC count can deliver a similar experience.

I definitely agree with that. Halo has the same issue that Gears of War does. Their commercials are dramatic and deep, but then the games never present any corresponding exposition. Yea they're fun, but where is all that charisma we're expecting after seeing these awesome trailers?

Neil Blomkamp started them as live action with Halo 3. Then the other directors stayed with live action on the following games.

We already know generally what to expect from a Halo game in terms of gamelplay though. With the exception of jetpacks and other perks, this makes it easier for me to appreciate the live action trailers (which have all been fantastic to begin with).

So you're good with them making a trailer about what not to expect? Because I'm guessing the actual game won't be this impressive, judging by the difference between the previous games' and their trailers.

So satisfying. It just really draws out the drama that these games are capable of.
BTW, anyone thought of the Believe ads while watching this?

Blame Hollywood. Universal and 20th Century FOX didn't believe it's worth a budget of over $200 million.

At that point, I could possibly see it. Since then we've had quite a few of these shorts, Halo ODST, and Halo Reach. Both these recent games introduced a lot of characters into the universe that you could have a movie revolve around. Master Chief would be an OK character in a movie, but I don't think it'd work out as well since he has tended to be more of the 'silent type' in the games, and we've never seen his face. That being said the fall of Reach would make for a great movie. You have ordinary civilians, several Spartans, and marines that you could build a good story off of, have dialogue, etc while still holding true to the Halo universe.
Not to mention most moviegoers could relate to a story about the destruction of humanity.

@PR0F3TA Are you crazy? Transformers in 2007 had a $150 million budget, and that movie was based on action figures! Just one Halo game makes more money than an average summer's blockbusters combined. Do you remember when Halo 3 came out and the movie industry complained how it took away their audience that week? How could it possibly be wasted money? Even if it was a shitty movie (i.e. Transformers) it would still make more than it's budget back

@PR0F3TA you seem to know that better than anybody. I mean ffs, look at transformers, I cannot think of one critic who didn't absolutely hate those movies, and they still made a shitload of money. People might be off in claiming it has the same decade defining quality that Star Wars did and does, but it certainly has the merchandising power.
Are you really so blind as to just pretend that Halo's immense profitability and sales records don't exist? That is EXACTLY the kind of license that gets turned into movie franchise. Maybe I wasnt fair enough with Transformers. Transformers of course did have the backing of years of cartoons, comic books, some games and of course action figures. But you know what it all started out as? Profitable action figures. If action figures can launch a franchise with a movie that is only financially bested by James Camerons avatar, why cant an immensely succesful video game do the same?

Apparently so....
Just because you don't like something doesn't mean the rest of the world doesn't or shouldn't.
I said it COULD become this generation's Star Wars, I never intended to say that it was better, because it isn't. However, the Halo universe creates a great base, and with the story of Reach, someone could produce a very good movie that appeals to more than just gamers.
As for Transformers, well, if Michael Bay can make millions off of a movie about action figures and a cartoon then how could a Halo movie (with enough financial backing) NOT do better?

Well, if you count the new trilogy, Halo does have a good chance of being better. Nothing like gungans and stilted acting to completely drag down a massive franchise.

I thought Star Wars was renown for having "stilted acting"? Even within the older trilogy the acting sucks...bad. What made those movies awesome certainly wasn't the acting though, it was the universe and the characters within it (and of course, the special effects). While George Lucas obviously lost his mind somewhere between The Return of the Jedi and The Phantom Menace, we don't really have to worry about that with the Halo universe, as the creative director is never really just one man but is instead a vast community of talented individuals.

you can argue any point you want but no studio has put money on a Halo movie for a reason don't you think, they all rather just buy rights to comics now a days.
and i still LOL @ you guys thinking Halo can be this gen's Star Wars... HAHA i mean c'mon...

If you think about it, there are probably only about 5-10 million die hard Halo fans out there (and I'm being generous here so I don't upset anyone). I would only go see it if it rated well and if the studios had to spend $200 on creating yet another sci-fi shooter, well.. it had better be Avatar'ish in terms of what it would rake in or it would turn into a massive failure.
I think people fail to realize just how small the Halo fanbase is in terms of big budget movies. I realize Halo has the potential for a deep storyline but I'm guessing it would end up being a dumbed down sci-fi shooter movie ala Doom (what a disgrace of a movie that turned out to be).

In both these shorts and the books, it always seems like the Spartans are playing on easy mode. I don't care that the new pistol is supposed to be the bee knee's, ain't no way it's good for consistent 1-shot use like they depict. They also routinely make the AR seem way more effective than it actually is.
Not that big a deal, just something that makes me chuckle.

I remember the old scoped magnum, but I'm pretty sure it was no 1-hit kill either. And that still doesn't explain the AR.

Actually, you could even kill a Hunter with one magnum shot if you placed it in that soft spot. What an awesome gun. Can't wait for Reach to (almost) bring it back to its former glory.

Kat through out the whole video plus 1:24 Kat real arm is busted
Jorge at 0:35 shooting
Emile at 0:36 is crouching on the left of the video
Jun at 0:54 with sniper about to snipe an elite
Carter at 1:01 stabbing an elite with his knife
i think that the first noble six at 1:31. not sure

yeah, that's the original noble six.
not sure why he stood there in the covy ship so long before tossing the bomb. maybe he would've had a better chance of making it out.
