I've never understood that saying. Just because you've wasted money before on lesser things doesn't mean you have to waste it again. Just wait for a sale.

Yeah it's also 2 gigs. For those of us with the older systems with smaller HDs... it means a lot of deleting of other DLC or other XBLA games... neither of which I want to do.
I also don't want to buy a damn flash drive just to play this.

You don't own 2GB+ flash drive in 2010? They're dirt cheap.

It's only going to be a matter of time before you will have to upgrade the HDD of your console. Just do it and stop complaining. The next generation of consoles is a few years off, you just got to roll with the punches.

Yup, keep telling yourself that. Developers are just going to keep raising the prices of dlc, so just keep trying to justify it to yourself.

Except it isnt realy even just 2 hours, if you have multiple Shepards like I do (7 so far) it turns out to be alot more. Hell Im actualy going to go back and play the first one again now because I need a male shep that romanced Liara (only did this with femshep).

I'd have to agree with everything here, great story and execution but left a lot to be wanted. The Spectre and Shadow Broker fights were amazing - hands down the most interesting ones in the game.

I think the DLC has only been of middling value, on it's own merits, not compared to the brilliant value of the main game.

And wasn't the reason Liara wouldn't join up because she had to track down the Shadow Broker? Once that's (presumably) dealt with, and had her blue way with Shepard again, what happens then? Does she remember she left the space-oven on? (Don't answer that btw)

Hope it links in pretty good with the Redemption comic, that was a pretty good yarn.

Considering the amount of graphical and VO content in this game, I can see why it carries a higher price tag. People who don't like paying for DLC will not like paying for it-at any price. People who don't mind dropping a few bucks are the ones that developers are trying to please. There's a whole bunch of money scams in the world and overpriced junk. This really doesn't feel like one of those things.

Agreed! I didn't buy any dlc for ME2 because A) if wasn't included in the disc, then it must not have been important, B) I already paid for the game and gave the developers their pay for their job, C) I'm not paying for more DLC when the price of 2 or 3 dlc packs is equivalent to the price of one game (used), and D) I already played the game 2X.

Im not going to pay for these mission packs. ME2 is my favorite game of the generation but I cant stand DLC like this. Ballad of Gay Tony and Lost and the Damned is how you do DLC, if Bioware ever wakes up and offers us a substantial DLC package like Rockstar then I will buy it on day 1. Considering Rockstar made a shit ton of money from the Episodes of Liberty City I dont understand why games havent dropped the low-sales-high-margin nickel and dime style DLC and go for more expansion style which has lower margin but much greater profit.

Im even more disappointed that they would stoop so low as to finish the Shadow Broker story in DLC.

@aughscreennames Where did you see anything indicating that Rockstar made a 'shit ton of money' from the GTAIV episodes? Everything I saw indicated that the sales of the episodes were very disappointing.

While I'd love for them to do something much bigger for ME2 DLC (similar to the large expansion they did with Dragon Age), I won't fault them for their current strategy either as it has produced some great content.

@Uncle Jesse You don't really need "the weekend" to play through it. I played it all last night in a about 2-3 hours. It's very good, and the story implications are fantastic, but I'd say I liked Overlord more.

Well, to play through in one sitting I do. I don't play games for 3 hours a night, especially not during the week. I can get maybe an hour in and that's not even every night. I do most of my gaming on the weekends.

The duration shouldn't matter, it's the quality. Take Portal as an example of a game that was relatively short but considered an essential for any gamer.

I'm in total agreement about the cinema comparison, this story arc strikes me as being a very cinematically driven, as thus I would say that it compares to a film more than just games. You could easily spend more on a Blu Ray movie and get less enjoyment.

For fans, yeah this is probably one of the best DLCs you could hope for. It's not hours of repetitive play which contributes nothing to the story, it is something that actually plays a part in the ME universe. I would rather pay 800msp for this than whatever I paid for Overlord and some of the other DLC.

I guess it boils down to whether you really enjoy the whole universe of Mass Effect or if you just bought it for the action and shooting.

@Styli I generally completely agree with your comments in regards to length however, I did feel like this DLC should've been longer.

I think that for me, it came down to the price increase. I had no problems with paying the extra money but I expected it to last longer and have more content then the previous, cheaper DLC packs.

From a story perspective, yes, there is a lot more in this pack then the others and for anyone who finished ME2 that's planning on going to ME3, I would definitely recommend playing this pack for the story but the increased price did increase my expectations and outside of the more meaningful story, I don't feel like there was much of a quality increase.

Still a good piece of content and I don't regret buying it at all but I did end it with a bit of disappointment that wasn't there when I finished the previous two premium DLC packs.

Which is an even more annoying reason that this is DLC. If it was so damn important to the story line, why the additional nominal fee? Having some plot line in ME3 depending on whether or not you paid an additional $10 tidding to the develop is down right insulting to gamers. Even to the point that they might be loosing $60 down the road to make $10 now.

@Queso

I get your point, there is a line however. I think this pack may just be on the edge. I'd certainly be disappointed at a 2 hour DLC pack if I weren't a huge fan of Mass Effect and all therein. However, I don't think it's anymore of a rip than Overlord which took me about 2 hours to clear. For me, I didn't think Overlord added anything to the story, it was just like any other side mission.

This one is important, it fleshes out part of the story that has been going on since early in Mass Effect 1. I've a feeling the Bioware writers didn't think they could finish this story arc in ME3. Maybe there's a reason for that. So we have this.

It's just on the edge, as I said, especially price-wise. I don't think it's unreasonable but it is a little cheeky, I guess. Any more than the cost of a cinema ticket and I'd be complaining like crazy too.

But people have got to remember, you can play through this more than once, I can't see many doing that for Firewalker and Overlord.

@Madgame Amen to that. I KNEW from the moment I hit the end credits on ME2 that EA would fill the blank spaces with paid DLC. 30 hours for an RPG, even an ACTION-RPG isn't normal. And looking at the ME2 marketplace page, I see nearly 2000 MSP worth of DLC that would have easily fit on one of the two discs the game came out on, not to mention all the item packs and other shit that has marginal bearing on the game itself.. The Bioware buyout was the worst thing that could happen to us, the gamers. Next thing you know, they make ME3 episodic. "And tune in for next weeks' ME3 episode - for 800 MSP!"

Fuck you, EA.

I'm seriously surprised NO ONE mentioned the new bonus power Stasis. Love it or hate it its back and it can be extremely useful for insanity (It works through shields, armor and biotics). If you read Christina Norman's dev journal, a lot of the time spent on the DLC was just getting stasis to work, and giving Liara her very own AI (gameplay). http://www.giantbomb.com/profile/kitae/developer-diary-liara-stasis-and-the-shadow-broker/30-60900/

I did really enjoy this. I just picked up ME2 again to finish my second playthrough (I've been busy, OKAY!?) and it seems I had pretty good timing. I thought it was definitely worth the price.

The thing is, I plan to play through this again with my paragon character, and possibly other characters, so I'm getting at least 4 hours out of this DLC. Not the 2 hour one-time play-through.
