I was always frazzled as to why could never be Michael Jordan when I played this series as a kid - of course what 8 year old knows about licensing rights.

@syrik zero Amen yo.

Here's hoping EA smartens the f' up and releases this as a separate download on XBL/PSN. I do NOT want to buy a $60 NBA game I'll never, ever play, to get this one only worth about $20-30, and I doubt many other people do either. This was an asinine decision on EA's part, I mean, they obviously did it hoping to boost sales of NBA Elite 11 or w/e the frig it's called, but I don't think it's gonna work.

IMHO, they'd make a lot more separating the 2 and making NBA Jam it's own game for download on XBL/PSN for like 1600pts ($20). I'd buy it, no doubt.

I don't know about $20, but only because I don't think any of my other friends would pay that much and I want to play some head to head. If it were $15 or even $10 it would be much easier to get another friend to pick it up. Regardless, it looks like that isn't an option.

@Lord Foortwenti

agreed. i'd pay up to 1600 pts, or perhaps if it had enough modes, a separate game for $30. I have no interest whatsoever in NBA Elite 11 though.

so sad there is no reggie miller. it'd be raining threes!!

This is probably one of the only times that I wished a game was a pre-order bonus at games top. I'd pre-order NBA Elite just so I could download NBA JAM and get my money back the next day....

Larry Johnson is a LEGEND? Really?

If I had to look at the first paragraph and think for a second, "LJ? Who's that? Oh, you mean THAT GUY?!?" he's probably not actually a legend.

The only two things that dude ever did as a Knick was destroy their salary cap and benefit from the most corrupt, ridiculous, after-the-buzzer 3-point shot foul call in the history of the NBA.

But hey, why not? Willis Reed, Bill Bradley, sit your asses down and make way for the LEGEND! LOL, Knicks suck.

Larry Johnson is a legend, it just depends on what city you ask the question in.. In Charlotte, NC, where I live, he is most def a legend.

Also Vegas. He's a legend in Vegas. That team was AMAZING.

Why not remove him from the Knicks "legends" and add him to Charlotte's "legends?" I don't think NY when I think of Grandmama.

I could care less about a single new feature of this game until EA announces its arrival on XBL/PSN.

One feature they SHOULD be touting to the public, is the fact that they dropped the ball on online multiplayer for the Wii.

@JubbaTheHutt

Because Nintendo's online infrastructure sucks, and nobody wants to play it. The only game in the Wii's history to have a satisfying online experience was Mario Kart. That's mostly due to the fact that you don't need voice chat or to play with friends in that to have a good time. It was also easily customizable with miis, and marked nations, so you still felt like you were playing with real people the whole time.

NBA JAM is either team based or 1v1. You kinda need mics for trash talk or working together to have a good time. Even if there was online play incorporated to the game, not many people would jump through the hoops required to make matches, and the general experience is so devoid of communication, you might as well be playing the CPU.

To put it briefly, have friends come over and play it instead.

So I bought 2 EA Sports games for the first time in about 6 years this summer; 2010 World Cup S Africa and Madden 11. They are both quite good imo, and I have enjoyed them.

With that being said, I refuse to buy NBA Elite 11 just for NBA Jam, and I want it badly. My mind s twirling trying to think of a viable scam in which I can just get the NBA Jam d/l code with the Elite garbge. Which sucks because I am not a scammer, but in this case....

Am I the only one who was going to buy NBA Elite 11 anyway and found out that NBA Jam was going to be included with it thus making it a guaranteed purchase?

I can't believe these douchebags at EA didn't make this a standalone DL for XBL/PSN... I hope Elite tanks and these fockers @ EA realize how bad they screwed themselves...

i blame myself for not registering earlier to joystiq. i always state my opinion about ea on their site and they always erase my comments or threating to suspend my ea account. i guess the truth really hurts about their awful nba games so i appreciate all you guys who feel da way i do

They just seem determined to piss everyone off about this, between the requirement for NBA Elite on PS3/360 and then the lack of online multiplayer on Wii

I'm not sure what they think they're doing exactly...

My disapointment in the availability of the PS360 version led me to just buy Tournament Edition on SNES for $8 yesterday. It's not like I know who any of the current players are anyways, and I still plan on getting it for Wii.

Game's still a blast, now if I only had that Bomberman party pack multitap!

My inner Pacer fan, which is already on life support from "Thug Life 2004: A Ron Artest, Jermaine O'Neal, Jamaal Tinsley, and Stephen Jackson Joint," has to read this news? Now they can't even get one DECENT Pacer legend - Reggie? Mark Jackson? The Dunking Dutchmen???? Hell, give me Derrick McKey and Dale Davis!!!! Not Detlef f'en Schrempf........
