Famitsu has revealed a few new tidbits regarding the Nintendo 3DS rendition of Dead or Alive, thoughtfully translated by andriasang.com. The game, now known as Dead or Alive Dimensions, is being developed by Team Ninja under the direction of Yosuke Hayashi (who most recently worked on Metroid: Other M).
The hallmark features of the series (counters and impossibly proportioned women, presumably) are set to make a comeback. The game is also supposed to be accessible to players that have avoided 3D fighting games in the past. The article confirms that Raidou -- super cheap boss character from the original Dead or Alive -- will be making a return appearance (we thought that was him in the E3 screenshots!). Head over to Famitsu to check out a handful of new screens.

You know with a Halo Spartan making an appearance on the 360 version, and the fact that Team Ninja was behind Other M, you might be on to something.

Heck, I'll be offended if Samus ISN'T in the game.

It's only inevitable that there will be a 3D version of DOAX.
Though I'm not sure if that confirms the existence of God, or of Satan.

FWIW, I have played numerous PC games in 3D and some games with lots of effects turned off (that look great in 2D) are still more impressive in 3D due to the sense of scale and depth. I was surprised by this when I was forced to turn off some effects to get some games to work in 3D, but really there are many 2D effects that are being done to emulate depth that simply aren't needed (and often times don't work) when games are in actual 3D.

I can't remember the last DoA game that was a true fighting game. My recent memory is stuffed with volleyball and breast... well, more breast than usual.

Lookin' good.
I just hope 3DS has a centralized demo system. Dead or Alive is a fighting series i've never had the chance to try, but fighting games in general tend to be hit-or-miss for me: either get a Smash Bros or Soul Calibur, or Street Fighter or Tekken
