GTA: Chinatown Wars HD out for iPad, this is what it looks like

As promised last week, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars HD for iPad has arrived in the App Store. It's $10 (the same price as the iPhone version -- shame it's not a universal app), and you can see what that Hamilton would get you in the gallery past the break.

Gotta agree, this looks pretty good. I think, due to the screen size, iPad is a much better gaming platform than an iPhone, though I guess it's not as mobile, but I'll take "fingers not obscuring half the screen" over "not able to put it in a pocket" any day of the week, at least when it comes to gaming.

Looks as if they just put a filter over it and called it "HD".

I know right what a ripoff. You could just buy these and make EVERYTHING HD!

No they dont, Chinatown Wars is a HORRIBLE game on iOS. The controls are amazingly bad. Its best to stay away from real games on these devices and stick to casual games that require tapping.

I feel like this game is going to be put out on XBLA and PSN at some point seeing how many different versions there are already.....

Forgive my ignorance, but how do you play it? I have an iPhone and the games suffer from the touchscreen "buttons" even typing is a problem (for me).
So how would you have a good control method with a driving game like this?

Knowing how the AppStore works, I predict this is going to get alot of 1-Star reviews because of their decision to release a seperate, extra-$10 version exclusively for iPad instead of just updating the preexisting iPhone version. Granted I own neither version, so no skin off my nose, but this is a marketplace where people regularly whine because they feel $1.99 is too much to pay for a game.

I know, right? It's so hard to adjust to new and different control schemes. I mean, going from NES to SNES and 2 to 6 buttons. Then 8 buttons on PS and a full 10 buttons (including analog clickers) on the new consoles! And those are even before using sticks to move the character. I don't know about you guys, but I am intimidated by change. Plus it's fun to complain. Down with iOS!

I played this game on the DS, and then the iphone. It actually isn't bad, just takes a little getting used to. The interactive touch screen mini games (like hotwiring cars) also feels more "touch-y" than on the ds since you aren't using a stylus.
But yeah, these screens look sucky. Especially check out the textures in screenshot #2. You can barely read what's written in giant letters on the black awning (it says "superstar," btw). It just looks like they increased the render resolution and kept the old psp/iphone textures . . .
