LittleBigPlanet 2 'Sackzan' featurette is a swinging good time
29
What level could better demonstrate the practical applications of LittleBigPlanet 2's grappling hook than one based on Tarzan, the O.G. of using swinging as a form of locomotion? Check out Media Molecule's "Sackzan" featurette below, and imagine how you'll incorporate the new toy in your own levels.

Translation: Learn what the hell you are talking about before you say something.
Note: Madden's great and all, I'm simply pointing out that is played by a lot of people who don't know a lick about what makes a good game. The kind of people who play video games because their favorite sports team is in them.

While this is somewhat cool, it's basically just like grabbing onto something in the first place. Jumping over gaps would be just like grabbing onto a rope, but instead of a stationary rope you shoot it there yourself. Not a huge breakthrough. The only enhancements I could see wold be in community levels where you can swing around freely

Don't get me wrong, I loved the first LBP. However, for the most part, everything I am seeing about LBP2 just looks like a few extra gadgets thrown in, something that easily could have been done in an update or DLC for the first game. I don't see any difference in the graphics or gameplay whatsoever. Am I missing something? It looks like the floaty control physics are back in, I was hoping that would have at least been changed or tweaked. I am sure the game will be good and I am still planning on getting it, but I have to admit that my excitement for the game keeps getting dropped down a few notches the more I see of it.

Ok... then you've obviously not seen the RTS game / 3d Star Fox shooter video built with the LBP2 engine...
If that's not impressive, I don't know what is.

Also, you are complaining as if they never supported the first game in the first place. They've added, changed and improved so many things since release that asking for more stuff for free is just being an asshole at this point.

Ok, that 3D shooter stuff and top-down gameplay is new to me. That is freaking cool. Thanks for the link.
I never remember complaining or asking for anything for free, and most definitely have never complained regarding the wealth of DLC and support the game has received, be it free or paid, in LBP. I was just stating that everything I have up until now seen in LBP2 (in the classic side scrolling type levels) hasn't seemed like any significant upgrade to the first game. I was not aware of the top down and starfox type capabilities.

LAME! It's lame that Sony is pushing this game as a great way to create levels based on pop culture...remember what happened a few weeks after the first game came out? Any level that referenced any other work was deleted/removed--videogame homages, movie themed stages.
This Tarzan stage would have gotten the axe.
Quit luring us to this game, Sony. You're going to pull the same stunt again once someone creates an Avatar homage jungle level or an Angry Sacbird game.

The story and elements of Tarzan are public domain. They can use everything but the name which is trademarked.

@ZGiSH Well it's not Tarzan that I'm lamenting...what are they going to do when the game comes out and we get a lot of great levels that pay homage to obviously trademarked elements--a level based on Twilight or Metroid. Not every gamer is going to look up rights / public domain issues.

I love that they're doing these types of trailers again and, with each one, I get that much more hyped for this game.
I thought the grappling hook would be limited, at first, maybe only attaching to certain, pre-designated points, but I like the freedom that's coming with it. Looks superb.
