A listing for "MAG 2" has popped up on Walmart's site, brandishing a $60 price tag and a tentative release date of January 25, 2011. This is the first we've heard of a sequel to this year's 256-player online shooter MAG, but the very fact that it's listed leads us to believe something is in the works.
Could it be a re-released version of MAG packing in all of the DLC? Perhaps a repackaging with PlayStation Move support? Only time will tell. Or Sony, who we've reached out to for comment. Whichever comes first.
Update: Sony told us, "Any information posted on Walmart.com in regards to MAG 2 is pure speculation." We've yet to hear back from Walmart representatives.
[Thanks, Kromis]

MAG should be a platform that's constantly evolving not an iteration.

@MrVee PSN Vampah I played on Tuesday night and there were 1500+ playing in a single game mode (Acquisition, I think...), and others playing in other modes. If you log in, it'll tell you how many from each faction are playing.
I think there are still a lot of people playing. It just takes longer to start a game 'cause you're populating 32+ person teams, rather than just 6v6 as in MW2.
I'm still having fun with the game, regardless. The Beta, while annoying to download, is a nice addition.

@Dirty
Im waiing for it to be $39.99
$50/$60 for a online only game doesnt sit well with me. I got SOCOM Confrontation or $60... cause it seemed like a good deal (Didnt know I'd hate SOCOM so much.. they ruined the franchise with that one) with the headset (Awesome, BTW)

seeing that zipper is pumping out socom for Q1 2011 i doubt a second MAG will be anywheres near there. And I haven't heard of them selling the rights to it to anyone. I'm guessing a DLC/move bundle....which i'll probably have to buy.

@Prboi Call of Duty seems to keep getting Sequels every year...J/K
but its is quite possible....there are tons of storyless games that get sequels....tho I doubt this is one that will anytime soon

@dakoe3
its quite simple, u just go into it trying to improve what was wrong with the original. Most sequels tend to outdo their predecessor.

I'd be pissed if someone posted that I was about to fart in someone's face right before I was about to do it.

I imagine that this is more of a "Comes with all DLC" kinda thing. It seems a bit early for a second one, considering they recently released a beta for new features that would presumably be added to the current MAG
