According to VGChartz, Halo 3 has sold 11.14 million
World at War sold 10.65 million ( 6.47 on 360 / 4.18 on PS3)
So potentially, it could happen. That said, I think that Halo: Reach will undoubtedly sell more than Halo 3, as a bunch of people that weren't impressed by Halo 3 seems to be excited about Reach.
But the same can be said about Black Ops. A lot of people, including me, weren't at all interested in World at War, but I am definitely going to buy Black Ops.
At the end of the day, never dismiss Bungie.

Mmm, count me among those people. I was rather turned off by the apparent lack of effort that went in to Halo 3 at launch. Reach, on the other hand, looks amazing and the idea of going to such a great location and exploring part of what shaped the universe in the game. Can't wait. It's gonna be great.

Bungie is the American Dream of gaming. They went from a four man team who developed a pong port for the Mac (Gnop) to a prestigious developer who 99.9% of gamers respect for their efforts & talent. Bravo Bungie, you deserve all the glories on earth.

@The Pork; This is one of the great things about ODST. While lots of people complained about lots of things related to the game, it gave Bungie a good chance to learn about the gametype so they could improve on it. If Bungie had never made ODST, Reach's firefight wouldn't be nearly as sweet as it is now.

it has a lot more going for it, even if you don't like halo and are a cod fanboy, you have to admit that's it's campaign is usually better, it's got the outstanding level editor, an amazing developer behind it who loves their games and supports them like there's no tomorrow, AND a theater mode. this games got it all for a shooter folks

I wish they had upped the amount of people that could play Firefight, I have a feeling that first week I'm gonna have at least 8 folks who are going to want to get in on a game.
