Hey guys, here's some info about a rad party for an upcoming game you may be interested in. But oops, it's over! If you were interested in coming, we are truly sorry! Maybe looking through some pictures of other people having fun at the aforementioned party will be some consolation.
Regards,
Joystiq

@lparAgonl

I get that impression from almost every event that is usually covered by the media...I just glance and move on as usual.

No hate, envy, or related...just can't be bothered caring about an event that I can't make it to. I think the most I do is look at a few E3 results and see what was announced, but never anything in depth.

Hardware store Dead Rising themed does sound pretty sweet though ^_^.

Hey guys, I'm not sure, but isn't it likely the press only got invites? Stop jumping to conclusions and quit blaming Joystiq for every single problem there is.

@lparAgonl

lol...so true.

Most of the time, it seems that these things get announced the day before or after the event has already ended, even if it was open to the public. So some advance warning would be nice.

Alot of these happen in LA (impossible to attend) or an hour away in SF at the bad traffic hour of 5:00 p.m. (very difficult to attend without cutting out of work early), so it's not like I really care that much.

OK, OK, I'm sorry. I read the article, but I should've read it more carefully.

I apologize.

I wish I knew about this ahead of time. not that I'd be able to make it, but I'd at least be aware and think about what -I'd- do with the plastic toys and duct tape

Actually other video game blogs let you know it was coming on Tuesday of last week :P

I got some footage of the event if any of you would like to see moving pictures as opposed to lame static photos haha

So basically you feel guilty for consuming free food and drink and so you post a blog entry about it?

I dunno, this is about as newsworthy as posting that "RandomGamerX updated his Facebook profile to say he has beaten God of War 3!!!"

This was my first Capcom Unity event and we had fun. The DR2 ducktape was really a t-shirt rolled up to look like ducktape, it's a pretty cool shirt. I'm searching the internet for more DR2 event pictures. There were a few photographers there. I didn't know but I'm glad Joystiq posted some pics, thanks, woo hoo.

I know I really shouldn't care about this, but since you took it upon yourself to rant about the correct name of the tape in question, here we go...
The tape was originally created in 1942 during World War II as a cheap and convenient way to seal ammunition crates, and was called DUCK Tape (because of it's ability to repel water, or it's similarity to "Cotton Duck"; a type of fabric used for everything from sneakers to tents - add adhesive, and lo and behold, Duck Tape).
Although it is referred to be the common name of Duct Tape these days, it is truly a misnomer; while it can be used for virtually everything, the one thing it should actually never be used for is sealing duct-work. The name Duct Tape became common when soldiers returning from the war began using it on various projects (such as sealing ducts) after having seen it's usefulness in the rough conditions of war.
Of note, Duck Tape still exists as a specific brand-name of the tape, found throughout the world.
One good rant deserves another, I suppose. Now, get your panties out of a knot.

haha i got about 25 rolls of that duct tape (t-shirt) at my work yesterday and I will more than likely be taking half of them home because nobody ever buys good games at Fred Meyer.
