Paul W.S. Anderson's latest installment in the Resident Evil film franchise, subtitled Afterlife (or in most technologically-endowed theaters, Afterlife 3D), took home top honors in last weekend's box office ranking. What does this mean? Well, it means we're angry at a lot of America for not going to see Machete -- but, according to lead actress Milla Jovovich, it also means we can expect to see yet another movie chronicling Alice's beef with the Umbrella Corporation.
"This new Resident Evil is the first one to ever open at No. 1 worldwide," Jovovich recently told New York magazine. "It's the biggest movie in the franchise. So we're definitely going to make another one." She goes on to ask that fans of the series send suggestions for the next film to her Twitter page, which also contains much needed, step-by-step instructions on how to properly pronounce her name. Thanks, Milla!

Yay. lol I love the series, its my guilty pleasure. Though weren't they going to reboot the series after this? I guess it will be after this next one... or the CGI one.

Not going to lie, I downvoted you so that way people who haven't seen it don't get the end ruined. Not enough space or time for the spoiler.

Why are is joystiq reporting on Paul "whogivesashit" Anderson? The man has no talent and no concept of writing. At least Boll dosn't overdo slow motion.

Get rid of Alice and all these girl-power with unbelievable moves. Ever heard of Survival Horror? At least make the situation a little more believable.

I'm sure she only keeps agreeing to make RE movies to keep her husband in work.

At least the first movie was relatively zombie based. After that they really lost any sense of 'reality' (as it'd be in a zombie apocalypse anyway).

Boy... 'BioHazard' has really changed from its original concept. Called 'Resident Evil' to amp up the "walking dead" motif at the BEGINNING of the original game, but if one READS the information scattered about the mansion. The FINAL VERSION of the humans seen near the END of that game, showing obviously that the humans where BIO~logically changed into those HAZARD~ously Dark Creatures~ The Second and Third game followed that idea too w/ slight changes further showing the audience that not ONE game had DEAD people walking around.. EVER.
Except in the Movies and Capcom Approved CG drek...
Such a shame that hollyweird has corrupted the game company too

I doubt it had a higher number of viewers. The added revenue is prolly due to the fact 3D movies have higher ticket prices...roughly 50% higher

Am I the only one who actually enjoy these RE movies? Sure, they aren't great, but they are decent!

If they weren't based on Resident Evil, then they wouldn't be as bad. Having RE in the title automatically kills it, especially when they're looking more like Matrix movies than RE. Where is the "horror" part of survival horror? They're making the same mistake the makers of FEAR are and going too far in depth with the supernatural abilities aspect of it. What's the point of movies when the protagonist is basically invincible?
