Resident Evil: Damnation 3D CG movie sequel announced
41
Capcom and Sony Pictures are subjecting victims to another CG Resident Evil movie: Damnation. The animated feature will be released in Japan in 2012 using that 3D tech the corporations are raving about.
According to Capcom, the first Resident Evil CG film, Degeneration, has shipped over 1.6 million copies for home viewing and its limited "2-week / 3-screen theatrical release in Japan" grossed ¥40 million yen ($480K).
Despite Resident Evil's celluloid excursions being reviled by critics, the series has made plenty of bank. Resident Evil: Afterlife 3D is currently the top movie at the box office.

Degeneration was pretty good. The animation did suck, but the story was closer to the games than any of the live action movies.

Everyone's such a critic when it comes to movies nowadays. The Resident Evil movies are pretty good, especially for a video game adaptation. Everyone needs to lighten up and stop complaining so much :D

Yeah, how dare I expect quality entertainment when I pay for a movie.

@barkie Implying it's an adaptation and not just using the same character and locations names and that's it.

Dude...please. That's not even worth commenting back at. I watched a few minutes of one of the live-action RE films and it was so corny, goofy, and badly acted I happily turned it off. The films have about as much in common with the RE games as chestnuts do with the wave equation.

LOL! Right on, right on.

I liked Degeneration. Hopefully they keep Leon in the sequel and have him deal with the ganados or majini

I'm not saying they did poor (sales wise) or the game was broken or something like that. I'm stating that RE4 kill the survivor horror in the series. RE4 & 5 was a great action game, man, if had a different title I was gonna be all over, but it carried the Resident Evil name, so that was a huge turn off.
I know many don't understand, because most of the so called RE fans nowadays started on RE4.

Great, the last one was boring as hell.
Please let this on be good. At this point though why not just make a Dead Rising CG movie?

Resident Evil: Afterlife is at top chart... what? How?
When I went to the cinema, I though I was watching the Matrix.
Degeneration was fun all right. Let's hope this new RE CG movie is better.

Leon in Degeneration looked stupid. Ergh. I hope if he's in the next film they make him look more like his RE4 model.

I never saw Degeneration. Was it really that bad?

While I liked degeneration I did feel it was a bit slow. I hope this one's a bit faster.

I saw Degeneration with a friend and we laughed the entire way though at the gaping logic holes and terrible acting. The fact that Resident Evil 5's IN GAME graphics looked better than the CG in Degeneration really says something about Capcom.

I will say this despite it horrible animation Degeneration was the best of the RE films but then again that isn't saying much.I hope this turns out to be good

Degeneration was straight 50/50. The voice acting, and marionette movements in the first half was pathetic.
However....
THE SECOND HALF WAS THE BOMB BABY!!!! When claire goes back to the underground complex, when it explodes all hell breaks loose, and it rocks HARD until the very end. From then on it was so good im glad i watched, if not kept the file.
sweet shit!!!

Resident Evil: Degeneration looks like the graphics were ripped right out of Resident Evil 4 and although that is a beautiful game, it just doesn't live up to the standards of a CG movie. Hopefully they raise the bar graphically next time much like Advent Children. I still say that Degeneration's story was MUCH better than than confusing mess though.

RE:D was somewhat fun for old school RE zombie action, but I would have preferred that was it a game, not a movie.

I wonder if Sony/ Nintendo are going to be petty and not release this to download movie on the Nintendo 3DS . It would probably sell really well as download title for $10 and both Nintendo and Sony get tons of money from it, but I'm guessing the rivalry will prevent them from making money and doing the smart thing.

Degeneration was okay nothing special. Let's see what they do with this one.

I don't know why everyone is bashing Degeneration, it was at least on par with most RE cutscenes tech-wise, and the writing was exactly what I was expecting. Hey, if I want to see the lofty hights of film-making, I'd go for Casablanca, but as far as Saturday-night-entertainment is concerned, you could do far worse than RE Damnation.

Maybe this time they'll remember to give Leon a personality. Since when was he moody, dark, silent and emo? It was the biggest turn-off for me.

Maybe it's just me but every game since Resident Evil 4, they keep changing Leon's look for the worse (Not sure about voice cuz I haven't played Umbrella/Darkside Chronicles or seen Degeneration). Leon looked and sounded (voice-wise) the best in RE4. Now, he looks like a goofy nerdball with thin, broomstick hair in those badly animated CGI films.

I actually liked Degeneration. Leaps and bounds over the live-action films. Except mmmmaybe the first one.
