Here's why complaining about sequels is tough. When a company makes a sequel, gaming zealots get upset. When they decide to try something new and ditch the main character for some new guy, fans get upset. Guys, you can't have it both ways! Except you can, as Capcom evidenced by revealing its Xbox Live-exclusive "epilogue" Dead Rising 2: Case West.

@NickDynmo Why is it every time I see that line I think of the guy in Resident Evil 1 saying "Chris was my old partner you know"

So from the trailer, does this mean that Dead Rising 2 doesn't have a conclusion unless you purchase the DLC epilogue?
I might have to reconsider my purchase.

I guess I'm just having a bad reaction to this announcement. Maybe they could have waited until the game came out.

The epilogue (aka after the main story is finished there is ending "chapter" to clear up any loose ends) is for the first Dead Rising :P It's a way to bridge the gap between both games better than the prequel Dead Rising Case Zero did.

I'm pretty confident that Blue Castle is holding to the original game's practice of multiple outcomes or endings of the game.
At least we can assume Chuck doesn't die? Then again, there were endings when poor Frank never made it out of Willamette Mall...

@Catalyst691 Nope, see earlier article:
"Keiji Inafune revealed that the downloadable episode will take place after the events of Dead Rising 2 and, as teased, will feature Frank West (of the original Dead Rising) working with latest protaganist Chuck Greene. Inafune concluded, "Apologies to PS3 fans, but this too will be an Xbox 360 exclusive."
BS.

i hope they explain how they find each other
also there better be some sort of revive teammate mechanic cause if it's game over when one goes down it will just frustrate a lot of people.

@peternography you've got Zombrex...so even if you succumb to the zombie hoard, you can stay "alive" longer. I'm assuming that gives you an out for one or the other going down in the game. I'd also guess that it means you don't get the best ending though.

The first line of dialogue between the two should be:
Frank: I've covered wars ya know
Chuck Greene: And I can make nail bats. Just like mom used to make
Then they do the Predator handshake, and it is awesome.

idc there's nothing that frustrates me more than exclusive DLC
especially when this is the first time the series in going multiplatform, you'd think capcom would love to entice new comers to buy the game with such announcements but nope this is typical BS once again

@Solace You do know you DON'T have to buy the DLC to play the main story of Dead Rising 2. It's reactions like yours that make me laugh at how childish people can be. Meh It's okay, mummy is there so you can cry on her shoulder.

@prence I think that he does have a point about that, at least in the case of Case Zero I think it would have benefit them to release that on the ps3 as well to get new people excited about the game. Still, I don't think that this is a Capcom decision as much as a Microsoft thing.

But who's to say PS3 owners aren't willing to buy it?
Being childish would be saying something against 360 owners, but I honestly don't see a point to console exclusive DLC. It's pisses people off more than anything and hurts a publishers bottom line in the end.
Capcom has already done a poor job this gen with terrible decisions like this one so you tell my why this is a good thing and not a bad?

@Solace I understand what you're saying, exclusives can be good for things like Halo or Uncharted. But when it's multi-platform exclusives it makes it a little unfair. Exactly, I own a PS3 and Capcom won't be getting $60 from me they'll be getting $20-$30 when the exclusivity wears off in months and months and DR2 is a cheap deal on Amazon.

Cry me a river PS3 fanboys, if this were the other way around and ps3 was getting the exclusive DLC all u would be talking crap about 360 and saying the complete opposite of what u r saying now. What a bunch of cry babies, what were your comments on Red Dead Redemption when u guys got dLC that 360 owners didn't. You all were probably stroking ur selves say how u and ur ps3's r masters of the universe. I hate SONY FANBOYS because they are the biggest shit talkers.

Now it more and more appears to me like the worst DLC twist ever. They didn't provide a paid demo for the Box crowd - no, everyone else only gets to play the middle part, and the Box crowd has to pay more money for the beginning and ending. Everyone should be angry now!

While I do see these $5 episodes as a shaky investment, they're definitely more substantial and varied than the average demo.
I myself to cringe whenever I have to buy something over the Marketplace - so I try hard to wait for the enivitable "Gold" or "Game of the Year" editions to release.
