Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep 'Final Mix' shakes up Japan this winter
23
The latest issue of Jump magazine has details on the next Kingdom Hearts release. In typical Square Enix fashion, Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep is getting a "Final Mix" version in Japan this winter. As with previous "Final Mix" games, this re-release includes all the content from the North American version of the game, including English voices and the sticker system.
Previous "Final Mix" editions have featured hidden teasers for upcoming games in the franchise. (Birth by Sleep, for example, was initially teased in Kingdom Hearts 2: Final Mix.) Maybe this iteration will follow the trend -- and even let PSP Go owners in on the fun as well?

So if you're interested in Birth by Sleep, you should just wait and import the final mix?

@Jack Spicer People on Kingdom Hearts fansites seem to think that since it is coming out so soon that it is not going to add anything that wasn't in the American version. In fact the scan this is confirmed from only showed stuff that was added to the American version: http://www.kh2.co.uk/kingdom-hearts-birth-by-sleep/news/kingdom-hearts-birth-by-sleep-final-mix-announced.php

Probably not. Unless you can read the magical moonrunes of the Japanese language, of course. While the English vocal track will be there, there's a LOT of screen-text in Birth by Sleep what with the menus, items, deck commands and so on.
And as others have already said, there probably wont be anything outside of a new secret movie (which the west should rightfully feel cheated on not getting) which wasn't in the international releases. You'd get a nicer box art out of it, probably. If that's any consolation.

I freaking knew this would happen, it's always the same damn thing. They get it first, we a get a slightly better version, they take our version and boost it up and then resell it. I can tell they're going to do the same with that new one on the DS.

All the previous games except this one have had trailers at the end of the credits, but the final mix versions had extended trailers with more details. Theres a secret ending on Birth by Sleep that pretty much confirms KH3 but I think it would be cool to see a full CG trailer on the final mix copy.

@Milky1985 By hinting that there's a spoiler in the explanation of why they look alike, then you are in fact kinda spoiling it as well.
Not tryna make a big fuss about it, just haven't beaten it yet :(

Why does Japan even bother getting these games at launch? Just have patience for a year and you won't have to have blown all those yen on an ultimately inferior product. (Though, FFX-2 INT+LM /did/ nerf the Catnip, so...)

@TJF588 Yes, I can so see people waiting for a year. Because we all have that much paitence ¬_¬

And coming to think I loved KH... Until the point they'd release so many versions the story became as confusing as Gundam for a newcomer.

Erm no it was teased in KH2 euro version as well, i remember seeing the video because i always play the games on proud mode.
Unless there was some extra video in the final mix version

Seeing as this game will be releasing quite shortly, it definitely wont include anything more than the English releases already have. That and also the fact that the UMD disc is already packed full with all the data that the normal releases have. They couldn't put much more in it.
Birth by Sleep was actually introduced in the normal Kingdom Hearts 2 game, in the secret ending there. The KH2 Final Mix secret ending is only an extension.
Oh and BBS Final Mix will probably not include a secret ending as well, considering the fact that Kingdom Hearts: Re:Coded is releasing shortly and that game will indeed include a secret ending.

I'm pretty sure this is Japanese exclusive.
So why not finish Birth by Sleep and then watch the exclusive boss battles and teasers and whatnot.

Not surprised by this at all. Thankfully we will probably see the "secret" movie on YouTube or some other video site within a week of launch, so we won't miss out on much.
Quick Question: What is this sticker system Andrew mentioned?
