No, MAG 2.0 isn't the supposed sequel we've seen pop up in at least one retailer's inventory computers. It's version 2.0 of the original game, and it's "less than a month away," according to developer Zipper Interactive's blog. The update looks to pack some pretty big additions -- hence the big two-point-oh.
The previously announced PlayStation Move support headlines a roster of improvements, and will make MAG one of the first "core" titles to implement Sony's motion controller. Zipper is also upping the level cap from 60 to 70, introducing changes to the skill tree designed to give MAG "the deepest character customization and specialization ever found in a first-person shooter," boasts Zipper. Additionally, the update will institute an in-game economy where match winnings can be used to buy new weapons and gear from a "Supply Depot."
Of course, 2.0 will also usher in a host of fixes and tweaks intended to "streamline the overall experience." And if you can believe it, Zipper is teasing that there's even more content in the upcoming patch to be revealed before it goes live. Now we just need to know exactly when that'll be, so we can start shoving aside all personal and professional obligations.

I'm am surprised they are still supporting this so much. I'm assuming the community is still strong?

Its going pretty strong still. The amount of support Zipper has shown for this game is something other devs should take a look at, its pretty impressive.

It's more like they are trying to save it.... And as for the community it definitely has a small cult following but not really enough to make the game worthwhile (for me anyway) since it's MP only....
Anecdote: I tried to play Acquisition this afternoon and there weren't even enough players online to play a game in the middle of the day without sitting in a queue forever. WTF? They're doing stuff like "double XP" happy hours to try to get people to play directives to get queue times going but it doesn't even work.

That's because a lot of people are playing the MAG Beta now, or on Sabotage or Domination.
Every time I play it takes 5 seconds to get into a room, sometimes instantly.
Aquisition is barely played. It's like the least favorite mode, and I always hate playing it too. I jut do Directives and have the game choose where I go.

Yeah, I'd also like to see a 4th faction added, actually.
An odd number of factions in a game where 1 faction faces another, leaves the 3rd faction waiting around when it comes to gathering players for games. But if there were 4 factions, things would be even.

Phew! The "weapon purchases" part of the title had me scared until I read that.
Thank God they haven't gone all EA on us yet.

This system is in the current beta and it works a lot better than the "old" system.
Weapons are bought and stay so unless you sell them back (at a reduced price ofc) and your skillpoints are used purely for perks (such as increased run speed, faster reload times or even the standard HUD when using a turrent (yay!)).
I do think they should reduce the number of skillpoints now though, a lot of the perks feel like fillers just since there's so many of them.

I dunno, I played this game a bit with my friends and didn't think too much of it at all. I just thought it was a big shooter and that was it, but...
the feeling of running up a hill after spawning and seeing a hangar come into view and seeing your enemies parachuting from the skies is amazing, but then that feeling is ramped up 50 times when all you see is bullets leaving the hangar and destroying the other team. Literally masses of bullets.
That in itself is so awesome

I recently got back in to MAG and for some reason doing much better. The community is still pretty strong as well. Plus playing Happy Hour along with Directives gives you triple XP (quadruple with Frago points) so I'm shooting through the ranks.

I wish this was a PC game :(
Or that it supported mouse and keyboard.
It just seems so wasted on a console.

@Otimus Go get your self a frag fx mouse and stop lactating if you can't use a dualshock. or how about the MOVE?. It won't save you from an air strike though. don't forget a pillar of smoke means a rally point for extra XP.

Yeah, don't sweat the console purist babies. I'm with ya on the keyboard/mouse support. 90% of my FPS experience is on the PC. And keyboard/mouse is way more accurate and faster than any game pad. Console people knows this, they know they'll be dominated by keyboard/mouse players, so they ALWAYS rail against key board/mouse set ups. The FragFX controller is not near as good as keyboard/mouse combo. But I'm ok with it not being on PC.

Sounds interesting, I do believe that MAG is enjoyable, but it takes some getting used to. Some aspects could be added from the likes of games like battlefield or example that would make it awesome. None of the storyline bs for no reason, just hardcore shooting action with all the original opportunities of other shooters.

Got my move controller today, went to log into the MAG beta right now and they have updated it again (now on ver 1.04).. 725.78 MB download and only 10% done after 10 minutes (eff this shit) ... While I wait for the download to complete , heres some info about move:
its definitely accurate I was throwing some fast punches in beat sketcher and I couldn't lose the pointer, which is quite impressive. Beat Sketcher is awesome. The controller is really nice to hold the ball at the top is soft rubber when certain games load it starts changing colour and it looks awesome / freaky (tumble and sports champions both do this)
The sports champions table tennis demo didn't leave me impressed. Getting the full game delivered tomorrow, will see if its just the demo. Also playing using a projector and a weird set up, with not much side to side space. Will need to give it a better more open test to see if its just me , but I hate the serving aspect of it already. I used to play table tennis when I was younger, so yeah not what I was expecting from what I read from the majority of the reviews.. It needs arm space you need a wide room to play the game properly.
You will need space to play the sports champions games and start the party.. In fact start the party demo is surprisingly fun, a 10 buck psn download yeah it would be worth it, full bluray game (i know move games are cheaper, but still) ?.. I wont be getting it.
I had a weird glitch with the controller syncing, tumble did the alignment crap but I couldn't control the thing for sh!t, the pointer was bouncing all over the place.. Not sure what caused it but it was freaky, even a ps3 restart didn't solve it and the same issue in sports champions.. Thought I might have just received a dodgy controller (it worked perfectly in the echochrome and beat sketcher demos though), but very surprisingly turning my room lights on fixed it and then turning them back off the controller was still fine.. No idea wtf happened, still confused about it, but whatever it was it hasn't happened again (low battery ? projector ? Sun Setting ? Not sure it was effed up)
The main difference with the Wii, that I have noticed so far ? On the wii the cursor tends to wobble its twitchy, the move is just solid like your holding a pen and standing right next to the wall..
Beat Sketcher really has impressed me, really shows the accuracy I was standing there painting some random crap with the beats kicking in and its just the drawing aspect of it.. If anyone has used the Wacom pen tablet, imagine using that but on a wall, thats kind of how accurate it felt seriously, the thing I didnt like was having to use the move button instead of the trigger for drawing. If your getting the move definitely download the demo and mess around with it, while your messing around move your hand further and closer while drawing a line it looks freaky because it follows you precisely in z, but as soon as you go to draw the next line that perspective completely disappears into the 2d webcam image
-- Mag update 90% complete at last, writing crap on a games site sometimes helps to maintain sanity :) ..

Not even a question if, MAG 2.0 is MAG with bug fixes, Move update and additional content. Probably same price too. This is pretty awesome, I must say I am very happy how Sony is offering people free content to games they already bought.
I wish Capcom did the same with Resident Evil 5, but no they are gonna make you buy GOLD edition first then push an update to you. Oh well.
Zipper guys keep up good work, I actually may pick this title up and try it with my new Move setup that is suppose to arrive tomorrow from Amazon.

Yeah, because what I want is for developers to spend their time cramming motion controls into games that we already have.
Sorry for crashing your precious little Dance Party. Maybe we should all f*cking celebrate instead. Why don't you celebrate with some new Heavy Rain content? Oh, you can't.

Oh, and you know what the Forza devs are doing? They're cramming in Kinect support, so you can "WALK AROUND CARS".
Go cheer that on as well. Take your poms poms and start shaking that booty, I'm sure it'll take some "fun" action photos that you can share on Twitter.
