Capcom's over-the-top comic book crossover has picked up another combatant at Tokyo Game Show. Ripped from the pages of X-Men, "X-23" enters Marvel vs. Capcom 3 as a nimble counterpart to Wolverine. As our exasperated comic expert points out, "She's a female clone of Wolverine and possesses all of his regenerative and feral abilities. She also has adamantium-coated blades protruding from her hands and feet -- so she probably doesn't spend a ton of money on gloves or galoshes."
You can get a snikt peek at X-23 in action (along with Tron Bonne) in the video clips after the break.
It was during the Capcom Live Stream during Comic-Con. He de-confirmed characters from both Rival Schools and Power Stone. If i can find it recorded, I'll let you know.
For all of you downvoting me, why? X-Men Evolution was hardly a stellar animated show. Whatever, you haters can't get me down. I made friends with Dana White of the UFC and got free tickets to the show yesterday.
@thisredengine I could disagree with you, but I guess from one internet nobody to another, our opinions don't carry a lot of weight. To that end, I shall quote someone who does matter:
[Bruce] Timm was driven to make Justice League good because of new shows like "X-Men: Evolution" and "Samurai Jack." "The bar had been raised," he said "and not by us."
Supposedly, in the Kotaku comments, she's a huge part of X Factor right now and very popular with folks who actually read comics.... she's "what Wolverine used to be" until he domesticated.
As someone who doesn't read many modern comics, I'm with you, I'd never heard of her before today.
..X-23 is NOT popular with people who read comic books. If they wanted pre-domesticated Wolverine it would be Daken and people really don't like him either.
This is another awful choice by whoever picks these characters. We may not have Spider-Man or Mega Man but we sure as hell have X-23 and Trish. WOOHOO
I don't know either of these characters. I really only know the mainstream comic book characters. As for Tron Bonne, she looks like a Megaman character, but I've only played the main games, with the exception of Megaman X.
@Ezio Auditore da Firenze What's wrong with Dazzler? Bright colors, pop music icon... you'd think any japanese developer would be falling over themselves to put her into a game. Dazzler people, Dazzler.
As someone who reads comics, I enjoy the character. Is she a Wolverine clone? Yes. However the writers have done a great job of making her a different character and not just a female Wolverine.
She was great in the X-Force comics and hopefully they'll develop her even further now that she has her own book.
Hmm..Kind of an odd choice seeing as how she is so similar to Wolverine. Not sure many people will even know who she is. Where's the Cable love? Was he too good for everyone in MVC2? :)
So out of the hundreds of female Marvel Characters they could have used in the game they picked her? When this game was announced, I told my friend who is a big fan "the character selection is going to suffer".
Bit iffy on her essentially being a female Wolverine, but I'm surprisingly happy to see them picking one of the newer characters over the classics (not that there's anything wrong with them either, mind).
I'm by far a regular reader of comics, but X-23 is definitely one of the more popular characters to choose.
A kind of surprising choice... I would have thought they'd go with a more classic character like Lady Deathstrike.
What I don't like is the trend of female counterparts to popular male characters... first they put in Trish when there's already Dante... now this? What's next? She-Hulk?
With such a huge library of diverse and Iconic characters to choose from, they can do better... where's Silver Surfer already?
@Zertoss Is that right? I'm pretty sure MvsC had themes for each character. I specifically remember Ryu's, Chun-li's, Roll's, Spiderman's, and Venom's. You may be thinking of Marvel Superheroes vs Street Fighter or Tatsunoko vs. Capcom (nope, you are not mistaking that game, it did have static music though).
Still waiting for wesker. Since x-23 was on that leaked list and let's be honest she's not a character you'd really guess for mvc3 looks like the list is true
I like how the Capcom characters are more quirky with their special moves than the marvel ones. They should have lightened up with some of them, like Captain America summons a flock of bald eagles or The Hulk summons the art of Jack Kirby which flies across the screen at you.
