I was skeptical about this at first, but not anymore. 20 hours of gameplay ensures a lengthy epic story. Gameplay borrowing heavily from GoW, but placed in the Castlevania universe, plus Shadow of the Colossus boss like battles, AND HIDEO MOTHERF"N KOJIMA involved in this....if this somehow fails to deliver I will have lost all faith in gaming.

This game takes place in the 1022, a few hundred years before Dracula makes an appearance in the series... well as Dracula. He did become wicked with vengeance and gained immortality and crazy powers after his wife was killed in 1094. He then flees to another country, becoming lord of the vampires, and resurfaces as Dracula some 400 years later or so.
So it would seem the Belmont clan and Dracula are connected in ways beyond and before Leon Belmont and Mathias Cronqvist's relationship.
Not that any of that matters as this game seems to be taking a non-canon approach to things with it's supposed "alternate time-line."
Though after this game's success I expect some serious retcon action for the series as a whole.

This game looks great I am still going to wait until we get some reviews but I have high hopes. But with castlevania 3d games I have been let down before. God it looks good though please let it be good.

I'm sorry, but people really think this looks good? Looks extremely cheesy. This is not Castlevania. Maybe I'm just getting grumpy and expecting more from games but looks/feels like a typical Japanese game. I'm surprised they didn't put purple hair on the main character.

They didn't show any gameplay, it was all cutscenes and it just screams "Japanese Game". Maybe I'll feel different after seeing some real gameplay and after some reviews but this 7min teaser/preview just does not get me to even consider buying it.

I don't see what you can diss about the trailer. The graphics are amazing, and the voice acting (in it's japanese form) is on par with most AAA titles I've played this generation.
Like said above, if you're concerned about gameplay, it's been getting great marks. It's supposedly VERY similar to God of War, which is not a bad thing. To be honest, Castlevania in 3D makes me think of God of War, so I think it's a good fit.
How about we save the bashing till we play it.. because all you are seeing now is presentation, which is astounding so far.

I appreciate the set and character design and the game itself may be quite good, but these are wretched cutscenes. Unwatchable.

I agree with you, man. I was really interested in this game until this trailer. Just because it is being developed by a Spanish Company doesn't mean that it doesn't have extreme Japanese influences. Besides it's still Capcom.
The characters have that distinctly Japanese look to them where they seem almost like a porcelain doll, the hair (need I say more), talking animals (i've seen bambi already). Don't get me wrong, I love Kojima games as much as the next guy, but Castlevania (to me) isn't about incredibly huge scope. It's about a family of slayers doing what they do best, killing dracula so he can come back again because they didn't really kill him. Give me a really intricate castle, some badass weapons, a cool tattered cape, and pleanty of dead things to... kill, i guess... and I would be happy as a clam. I just don't know that I really want this ultra-fantastic story. I want dark and gritty, maybe some rain, so I guess I have to wait for a western-developed castlevania clone... *sigh*

I don't get it... why are you guys so stoked? This trailer is was like an ultra long cut scene.... I got no vibe for how the game will actually play from this, the only thing I'm taking away here is expect really long drawn out cut scenes which I expect whenever I 'kojima' on anything.

I wonder if we still do not see Dracula because there is going to be a big twist at the end where the Belmont protagonist becomes who we know as Dracula. Kinda getting a Darth Vader vibe with the whole save my love from death which ends up dooming me because I can't see it coming thing. Because didn't they say something about this being the beginning.
