"our demo tasked us with finding a certain hinted word in the text on a certain page."

I am reminded of the copy protection method used in the floppy disk release of TIE Fighter.

Or that damned code wheel from Another World ... eurgh.

I quite liked Startropics and Metal Gear Solid's in-game references to their packaging/manuals.

@Haelie

Monkey Island's code wheel was quite memorable from back in the day. Would be a sweet piece of nostalgia to have about

Is LeVar Burton confirmed to voice King Rainbow? If not, I'm out.

@Jetup
you are just too fast.
I got here too late. I was, like, outside and stuff. Enjoying the sun--which makes up a complete part of a balanced rainbow, I might add.

@Jetup Its an easy joke to make because you know JC titled the article this way on purpose. Was about to post it myself if I hadn't seen your post.

Do enjoy the reference though. Miss that show. : starts humming theme song:

"Butterfly in the sky
I can go twice as high
Take a look
It's in a book
A Reading Rainbow!"

so, umm, a nintendo ds game, that you need to haul a book around to play? yay?

requiring to look up stuff from a book sounds exactly like old game copy protections, with some old games however there was another reason to ship a book: memory. you could fit a lot more of pictures and text to the experience that way.

I'm actually surprised that they weren't just showing a trailer of the PS3 version at the DS game demo.

Now lets play, "Guess which feature will be cut from the American release?"

Bonus Points: What will happen to the main characters eyebrows on the American boxart?

Seems like this book would work better as an out-of-game puzzle solving experience whilst still maintaining a semblance of immersion as opposed to an MMO I read about that has you do an actual google search.
