Rock Band lawsuit settled; Konami and Harmonix dismiss 'all claims and counterclaims'

Konami and Harmonix have settled their dispute originating in a 2008 lawsuit launched by Konami, reports Bloomberg. According to a filing in federal court in Texas this week, the two parties agreed to dismiss "all claims and counterclaims" in the suit, which alleged that Harmonix's Rock Band infringed upon patents owned by Konami.

Additionally, a 2009 countersuit by parent company Viacom on behalf of Harmonix was dropped yesterday in a filing in federal court in Boston. The terms of the agreement between Konami and Harmonix were not disclosed -- but we do so badly hope they involved a rooftop, two ninjas and a mean jam session.

Konami was just hating that Harmonix took their idea and improved it 10 fold.... by the time Konami got into the game, well, we all know how Rock Revolution turned out

Or, perhaps it was all planned since the beginning ? Any publicity is good publicity, just look at MW2 before the whole mall fiasco. Maybe they pose as enemies but are friends behind the curtains? You know, like politics or wrestling .....

Well, Harmonix did do the first two Guitar Hero games, so it's applicable in the 'shop.

Well Activision was involved aswell but they settled out of court.

Holy shit, that would be a great scenario for GH:WoR. One of the characters transforms into a ninja a battles another ninja...WITH GUITARS!

Maybe now they can get to work on that PS3/360 version of Guitar Freaks/drfummania XG

That picture never gets old

It won't involve ninjas, but one representative from Konami with a guitar freaks controller meets a Harmonix representative, presumably John Drake, with the Squire Pro Guitar on a rooftop and they hit each other over the head once...I think Harmonix will win that one
