Here comes a new challenger! Here comes another new challenger! Straight out of TGS's Tougeki fighting game tournament, Capcom finally, officially revealed the two new characters for the arcade release of Super Street Fighter IV: Street Fighter III's Yun and Yang.
If you're excited about these new characters, you could either wait for this arcade game to hit your local game center this December (in which case, you are in Japan), or you can start saving up for the unannounced, but inevitable, DLC.
@Costcosaurus So, basically every character in the SF universe?
People all have their 'favorites'. Those people are also just name dropping every character they thought looked cool. Most of them were just worthless clones of other characters in the SF universe.
I think almost 40 playable characters is just fine.
@jynxycat A lot of the characters they did include I really don't care for. There are too many shotos in the game as it is, but people tend to gravitate towards those because they are familiar. If they were really trying to get a spread there would be more characters like Rolento that are just wierd. Those characters dont' go over as well. I never played Yun and Yang in SF3, I'm more concerned about the changes they made to the existing characters, and wondering why cammy hasn't gotten an overhead attack yet.
@Haelie Geez,Ono has already said that Super Street Fighter IV is going to be the last iteration. There isn't going to be a turbo. Next Street Fighter will be 5, but I wouldn't expect it anytime soon, as apparently the main difference between Street Fighter IV and Super SFIV inner-changes is the ability the developers have to add and tweak content.
@motopsycho No they didn't. Quite the opposite actually. Capcom has said that balance changes and such will always be free (obvious, right?), but actual content: costumes, characters, stages, etc... will not be.
It should also be noted that they're adding a ton of tweaks and balances to all the characters. Some move inputs (like ultras) are completely changed and I hear Seth plays completely different now.
Can some of the experienced players explain the main differences between Yun and Yang for me? For me they seem to be two needlessly separated characters that could've been one. They seem to have similar quick/dash attacks and they both have the speed ultra, so what's the deal?
You are either being sarcastic or you don't know that Yun and Yang are pupils of Gen so essentially they are split from one character. Similar to the variation in style and gameplay in some shoto characters, Yun and Yang's strengths are different. Yun is good at closing the distance gap very quickly, spacing and knockdown game while Yang is a close infighter with great quick combos and mix up teleportation game. I recommend viewing some of the Street Fighter 3rd Strike videos on Youtube to grasp their concepts if you are interested.
@Spyder X Thanks for clarifying them. I played SF3 waaaay back when they were only back in arcades, and even then I only had a very paper-thin impression of them. I'd talk more about them and Gen here, but this isn't really the place. Thanks man.
@Jack Spicer If you mean Yang and Yun, we haven't seen them since SF3. And if they've started steroids after SF3 and got buff in SF4 then we have a case of backwards steroids that affect your past. Street Fighter 4 takes place before Street Fighter 3 3rd strike.
@TheMCFacemanBandcampcom amen to that, hugo, alex, and sodom are my favorites in all SF history
