Wesker and Spider-Man enlist for Marvel vs. Capcom 3

Capcom's TGS announcement of Spider-Man's addition to Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is a formality. Of course Spider-Man was going to be in there. Nobody's going to put the effort into modeling X-23 and not bother to get to Spider-Man. Yes, Marvel's marquee wall-crawler is back (and we're glad to see him), with most of his moves from previous MvC games intact.

Now, Resident Evil's Albert Wesker, that's a neat surprise. He's really fast! And he teleports! And he has a really nice black trench coat! See videos of both new characters after the break, courtesy of GameSpot.

Thank god they finally confirmed Spiderman. That's been making me nervous for months. Now, Capcom, hurry up and confirm Megaman or there's going to be an incident.

Since Tron is in the game, Megaman from Legends better be in it. I am seriously sick of classic Megaman. Any version but him.

Classic Megamn has gotten 3 recent games already: Megaman 9 & 10, and Megaman Universe.

Well, there goes my doomsday theory of spirderman/megaman as first round of DLC.

Thank god.

But Wesker? Seriously? Capcom is really pulling the obscure and unlikely card this time around.

@Alexisonfire: I would hardly call Wesker obscure. Unless you meant to say badass, then in that case, yeah.

@Alexisonfire; Wish they'd go more 'obscure.' Wesker is everywhere these days, we could use a bit of Demitri Maximoff and Red Arremer.

I wouldn't call Wesker obscure or badass. I think he is a terrible generic character and has only been in crappy RE games since the original. I also don't like the RE5 version of Chris. Would have preferred Leon.

I could think of 15-20 capcom characters that are less obscure than Wesker.

Sure, he's an important, badass character in the Resident Evil universe, but not quite as known overall.

Not saying it's a bad choice, just an odd one.

@MLS: I think Leon's popularity is due to the fact that he was the star in the best Resident Evil entry, and that he had the patience to deal with Ashley for an entire game.

Sometimes I just wanted to tell Sandy to shut the eff up.

@Alexisonfire: I'm pretty certain he was the main villain of the RE universe (I'm not much of a fan, I've only played 4, 5, and Zero). And for me, an outsider to the franchise, he would be top three most recognizable characters (after Leon and Chris).

@Alexisonfire albert wesker was one of the great video game villians of the nineties. Too bad it is matrix wesker. I was hoping for live action actor weker from re 1 intro movie lol. Needs moar barry! ;)

Now my MVC 3 Is complete I don't care who they announce next.

You gotta admit wesker is a perfect fit for mvc3

@Jawmuncher I kept thinking, that guy with the MGS avatar is going to be happy with this announcement. I know you and some other peeps here were wanting Wesker so bad.

Yes but the list was missing characters like X-23 & such so it couldn't be reliable when she was announced. But everyone knew he had to be in the game.

Makes me wonder who else they're going to cram in this game. This is Awesome.

Weskers style looks familiar, kind like Phylocke with the whole teleporting thing.

so we have chris , wesker, and hopefully jill or alice may be next. but to many people with guns will jsut cause spamming .

Exactly BLade verse Dante is dying to be done. Marvel sword wield gun slinging vamp hunter vs capcoms sword wielding gun slinging demon slayer. it must happen NAO. oh and my damn silver surfer.
