Halo: Reach tops UK charts, Sports Champions takes silver

Halo: Reach took the top spot on the UK all-formats sales chart last week. According to Chart-Track, Reach's first-week sales were 20,000 units ahead of Halo 3 and 200,000 more than Halo 3: ODST. The members of Noble 6 also had the fifth biggest launch ever in the UK, with the top four belonging to Modern Warfare 2 (Xbox 360 and PS3), GTA: San Andreas (PS2) and GTA IV (Xbox 360), respectively.

Likely a distant, but still impressive, debut at the number two spot is PlayStation Move's Sports Champions. The only other Move-required games in the top 40 were Start the Party! (#29) and Ubisoft's Racket Sports (#32). Rounding out the top three was Mafia 2, which held the top sales spot for the three weeks prior.

Ubisoft's Prince of Persia: Forgotten Sands turned back time and went up the charts to fifth place last week, likely due to the movie's home video launch and retail promotions. Also, Ubi's Just Dance made it back into the top ten in eighth place. It gave us a good scare last week when the stalwart Wii-exclusive slipped to 11. Check out the UK top ten after the break.

Name any other series that has changed much over the years if they were good to begin with.

Seriously, the game is fun. Archery and Gladiator are cool. I can't for The Fight and Time Crisis.

Oh yeah, I'm enjoying Reach as well. Its my first Halo ive ever played. Well, i did play ODST but yeah. Anyway, Multiplayer w/ friends is pretty cool.

I didn't have a original Xbox and my friends didn't either. Although most of my friends had 360s before me, they still didn't own Halo. When I bought my 360 last year when the Elites price was cut, I played ODST. It was ok but people told me that ODST was not really Halo so disregard it. Even though I find Reach fun, I still prefer more realistic shooters. That's just me though.

Makes sense, Halo 1 was still the best in my opinion, no Halo since then has been able to reaffirm the joy I had playing that game. It was original, it was action packed, it was fun. Halo games now are good, but not as good.

Considering Sports Champions is absolutely useless without the move controller, it indicates a really and I mean _really_ good sales week for Move. If the sales are strong then the titles coming out for move will only get better.

Oh wow, well done Sports Champions! I really didn't expect it to sell all that well in it's first few weeks, but damn, this is a nice surprise!

For something not marketed well, it certainly did well for itself, PS3 owners I know seem to know about it and either bought it or decided not to.......yet.

@Spunky Monkey 190906 I haven't seen 1 advert for Move on tv or a billboard advert (but then I am trapped in doors trying to code like crazy , you may call me codemonkey - McDucking-Scrooged CodeMonkey.. So that maybe why..)

I have seen a tonne of Reach adverts though, every time I turn on the TV there is a reach advert. Channel 4 here is even doing some massive Halo Reach promotion where you can win a 360 Halo Reach bundle and practically every advert break Halo Reach is mentioned or advertised..

I think the charts should say Move Bundle and not just Sports Champions

I'm not sure there was a move bundle for us lot including sports champion atleast I couldnt find one all we had was a starter disc

I want a move but cant justify it yet

In the UK the starter bundle did not come with sports champions, so...your statement is not accurate.

... Which also means that the move sales is probably higher than just the sports champions sales..

All that buy sports champions must have also bought the move (otherwise the game is useless), but not all move owners have bought sports champions.

Halo, hold on to that top spot as much as you can my dear, for if a Fifa game or Just Dance 2 hit the stores, you may be seeing #2 faster then lightning :O

Congrats to Move and Reach, two games to sustain my interest till Christmas single-handedly. :D

Sony has to be happy about that! Is Sports Champions included in a bundle or is this separate game sales? Either way, that's promising for Move. Most people I've talked to that own PS3's don't haven't even heard of Move.

The bundle that we got with Sports Champions here in the states was not sold in the UK.

i'm asuming it's the Sports Champions Bundle. even if it is or not. Congrats on getting 2nd. now i hope mine comes in the mail tomorrow. i played it at a Sony Style Saturday and i thought it was awesome

my friend can't find a PS Move Sports Champion Bundle ( then again were in Canada and the stats are from UK ) so that's why i assume that it maybe the sports champions bundles.

by the way just cause one assumes doesn't make themselves an a$$. I just assume that more would see of sports champions cause of the bundle pack with the game. Hope it continues to stay in the top 5 in the selling point. :)

Reach was fantastic, I still think Halo 3 is a better game. But reach looks better and wraps into the Halo canon so much. Stay past the credits......

Get a Move on! :-) Technically Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 is also a Move title and actually pretty enjoyable with the new controller. Unfortunately the overall integration is a bit flawed and you always have to have a Dualshock at hand...

Halo needs to just go away...in fact Microsoft could just go away and I would not be sad at all. I am hoping to get Move soon though.

Thank you! I am a huge fan of the PS3. I am glad it was that obvious, & I am proud of it. When I like something I stick with it! I will never jump on the Xbox/Microsoft bandwagon.

What did you play? Sports Champions is awesome and the tech is extremely precise which allows for realistic control. The types of shots you can do in ping pong are amazing and incredibly accurate. All of the games are equally impressive in Sports Champions.

Maybe you were playing with your imaginary friends again and didn't actually get any firsthand experience with the tech... is that whats really going on here?

Maybe you don't like motion controlled games and thats fine but you can't say the technology isn't any good.... if you you've actually played it...
