DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] FINAL FANTASY coming to North America, name intact

We were sure Square Enix would localize the sequel to Dissidia Final Fantasy, its PSP fighting-RPG hybrid thing. But we also vainly hoped the company would alter the title for the American version to something that makes even the slightest bit of sense. No such luck.

Square Enix announced that DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] FINAL FANTASY will arrive on PSP in North America sometime next year, bringing new characters (Kain, Tifa, and Lightning, so far), a playable Chaos storyline, and a new, RPG-style mode along with it. We now hope it'll be available on PSN so we don't have to look another human being in the face when we buy something called DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] FINAL FANTASY. Why would you do this to your own game, Square Enix? If you don't want anyone to buy it, just don't release it.

Story

@TJF588 Hm, the official site for the game it title-tagged as "DISSIDIA 012 FINAL FANTASY"; apparently, the bracketed "duodecim" really IS acting as brackets, in this case offering the pronunciation of "012". So, read aloud, the title is "Dissidia Duodecim: Final Fantasy" (unless you just really wanna ALL-CAPS your speech).

@ButteryLLAMA Sort of a DOUBLE PROST! Since the site's just "D... 012 F... F...", I think the bracketed "duodeciim" is a pronunciation guide for the "012" part of the title.

While certainly expected (PS, where is Blood of Bahamut?), it's still good news. I went from "eh" when I played a friends copy, to him giving me a copy, to me playing it about an hour everyday for at least 6 months, to having the full hero cast being lv100 and half the villains there too.

RPG mode doesn't interest me half as much as MAYBE they should have a campaign for the villains this time around? Also, Edea...

They can call it whatever they want. As long as it's Dissidia, I'll play it. the first one was amazing (although horribly unbalanced), and if this one improves upon that we have a recipe for pure awesomeness.

SE and Disney Interactive went on my boycott list after not published Kingdom Hearts BBS on PSN. Right alongside EA and Activision as companies to dislike with a passion. EA was doing great for a while until they announced the online pass. I refuse to buy Modnation Racers PSP for that same reason.

You realize if you were going to buy those games used, you weren't a customer of theirs anyway, right? All you'd be is a freeloader on their servers.

You don't get it like everyone else. When I trade in a game, it's not like I can go home and jump on EA's servers, because I don't have the game anymore. This should only deter pirates who make a COPY of the disc so that two people can play online by buying only one copy. For as long as I can remember, I could give a game to a friend, and they could play the game online (Burnout 3, or even Paradise for example). It's not like I'm staying online while the disc I give away to someone also goes online. There is still only one person per disc on the servers. If you buy a game with online features at full price, they should be bound to the disc and not your account.

If you buy a used game, you should be losing quality of the disc, and not quality of the features contained on that disc.

On the picture it says 2018, is that the release date?

Hate the name, but the game will be great.

Perhaps Insomniac should rename Resistance 3 to Resistance 123 [ironingboard] FACESPANK

I really hope they have more stages, the cut-scenes are very boring with the same stages all the time.
