Folks may dog on Heavy Rain for its unconventionalist ways, but I found this to be one of the most enjoyable narrative experiences of last year.

The only real downside is that once you finish the game, you're always going to have that inkling in the back of your mind on how it's going to end regardless of the different outcomes of the sub-plots.

I like Heavy Rain right up until you find out who the killer is. At that point you notice all of the moronic red herrings, nonsensical plot twists, just straight-up lazy storytelling, and the bland characters. I'm all for unconventional experiences, but it would have been nice if the story and characters were even the least bit believable or interesting.

I completely agree with you. This game is fun but I can not believe it is praised for its story.

Just took advantage of this deal. Maybe this will give me a reason to buy Move.

I always thought he looked like Creed from The Office

I played Heavy Rain Move demo and found it to be ok, some of the moves asked of me were confusing. It would have been nice of they tossed in some video tutorials on how to perform certain gestures.

There's a small little icon that shows you exactly how to do the moves. It isn't that hard.

I own and have completed Heavy Rain. I played the Move demo the other day and know what you mean. I found the movements to be a little confusing.

For example, when you knock on the door you have to first hold up your hand until the square fills all the way and then knock forward once. The pause you encounter in the movement while waiting for the square to fill up is completely unnatural. It is like they added it to make the controls have more depth but failed in the process. The movements should be more natural. Still, I am looking forward to the patch and plan on playing through the game again with the Move controls.

It is a great game. It can be a little slow getting into it but once you get into the meat of the game you will be glad you stuck around. The whole idea of the game offering options with different sets of consequences is refreshing.

Each to their own, I thought it was a game changer ; a real break from the usual FPS, or Driving game that everyone else brings out.

I enjoyed playing through it ; and you really felt emotinally involved. It was an experience. Move has just made it more interactive in terms of actual human movement. Not a bad thing.

In a lot of ways I felt like Quantic Dream took everything that made Indigo Prophecy groundbreaking, streamlined it and called it Heavy Rain. Now don't get me wrong, Indigo Prophecy isn't exactly what I'd call a perfect game; but it had that feeling of great things can come from it. It's still one of my favorite gaming experiences of all time. Infact, I'd say Bioware even owes them for how conversations & interaction are handled by the player.

Indigo Prophecy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNsMt9pMb0s

More dialog driven, every choice you make during a conversation leads to a new string of dialog.

Heavy Rain: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MnQr4k7Afs

Not much in Heavy Rain. It's more or less a jumbled mess of questions.

@Co

If I want to play party games, I'll get Scrabble, and Game of Life out of the cupboard. If I want to play Mario, I dig out the DS.

Wii is for kids and families with no sense of gaming history.
Enough said on that subject.

Game (Heavy Rain) =/= Game system (Wii)

There's all kinds of failure with your comment chief.

LOL'd at "Sadness simulator". That's right up there with the "murder carousel" God of War description.

I asked this on a previous Heavy Rain thread but didn't get an answer. I recently had the Origami Killer's ID spoiled for me. Is the game still worth playing?

@mattand Knowing who the killer is will only spoil the moment when it is revealed. Other than that, the game is definitely worth playing still. It's one of those games that you are sad to finish because that means the end. Great game and an even better experience.

Just because you know who the killer is doesn't mean you know the story. So YES it is worth playing.

It just makes the story make less sense if you know who the killer is. If you don't know, there's a great sense of suspended disbelief. Once you know, the whole thing comes crashing down.

Damn, I already spent $200 this month picking up Move and Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition. I'll have to pass on this for now and pick it up for my girlfriend for Christmas.

RE5 with Move is friggin awesome btw! And I love Sports Champions' table tennis like a fat kid loves KFC double-downs.

The deal for 3D Dot Game Heroes is already sold out and it sold out in less than 10 minutes. I'm glad I sat on that one when it went live. Been thinking about getting that game for a while now.

I love Amazon.
