I hope this is legit. I also hope this version's MKII won't be as ridiculously hard as the one on the PSN.

The difficulty of that version seemed to be the norm for MK games, though. You know, ridiculously easy first two enemies, then impossible starting at the third unless you can find an exploit to "outsmart" the AI repeatedly.

i like how companies are finding ways to not only milk old franchises by putting HD in the title but also killing all the good memories they had playing those games.

This HD craze is so stupid in my opinion, its almost like the Hollywood remakes of old movies, it ruins everything that made the game special. It was never about fancy graphics till this generation of games.

@PR0F3TA but it also gives people a chance to try out games they didn't have a chance to play when they owned an earlier console

Never about fancy graphics until this generation? What?!? Every generation has brought improvements on technology which has included "Look how much better the graphics are!" every time.

I love old school games in the fuzziness of their times for nostalgia but I am all for HD remakes of games that I truly loved playing as a kid and want to replay. And the price point these things are being sold at is right on the money for me.

I dunno, PS2 games are almost unplayable for me on an HDTV due to the Jaggies. If compare experiences, having a cleaned up version for HDTVs does replicate the experience more than playing the game and seeing all its flaws that were impossible to see on an SDTV with scanlines.

I hate milking of games as well, but for this I'll just have to say it's the lesser of two evils (DLC that isn't expansion size). The God of War collection did a good job so if the quality continues I can deal with it.

Though, if they made Mortal Kombat look like SFIV, I could understand complaints, then. This is also one of the last games I would care to see in HD...

i never mentioned PS2 games, some should be remade like SOtC or GOW, great examples... but this is MK2, who hasn't had a chance to play MK2. My comment is towards old school games during the SNES and NES era.

i know im alone on this, i can accept that

"It was never about fancy graphics till this generation of games."

Fancy graphics have always been part of the equation. Arcades and consoles were always pushing for the best graphics. I still remember when I saw Super Mario 3 for the first time for how much better it looked than the previous Marios, or Virtua Racing, a 3D racing game that looked miles better than Hard Drivin', and I still remember my jaw slamming to the ground when I saw Donkey Kong Country.

...wait what were we talking about? :P

Yes, but it was very much about graphics even back then. Maybe you're not old enough to remember, but the console manufacturers were always touting the number of "bits" their system had, how many colors they could show on screen, or how many simultaneous sprites they could show.... Sega pimped their "Blast Processing" and Nintendo talked up their "Super FX" chip. It's always been this way.

Bought. I just hope it has better online for MK2. I played thousands of matches on the PSN MK2. If this one has good netcode I can play thousands more. I just hope the vets don't get a hold of this because I hate getting in that match where the vets have everything memorized and can just counter without even thinking about it.

Out of curiosity why don't these hd remakes come to the 360? I know why the first party titles like sly Cooper, god of war and ico don't but not sure why mk, sc etc are only on ps3. Maybe storage of the bd?

seems like these 3rd party remakes are missing out on a lot of cash by not going to the 360 as well. MK was never console exclusive. That said, think of how much msoft would make with a halo collection.

I don't think Microsoft would ever make a Halo Collection, most people are playing either Halo 3, ODST, or Reach now and would never go back to the original Halo or its sequel. I know I wouldn't buy a Halo Collection as it would just be waste of money as I've already played them before.

Mortal Kombat has never been console exclusive for as far as I known. I think either Sony paid Warner Brothers a good chunk of money or maybe Gamestop made a mistake of listing it as PS3 only. I bet there is a Xbox 360 version in the works, maybe we'll find out before November comes around. I am kinda interested but having owned these on Sega Genesis makes me want to play them in HD with online play. I just find it weird that WB doesn't just release these on PSN/XBLA for $10 each. I would gladly buy them digitally then having a disc and sure many people would.

@Benstamania - Not as stupid as your bloody comment. God of War remakes sell a shit load, more and more people cry for upgrades of their old favourites and now when we get them, you reakon its a bad idea?

Well when im enjoying my remakes, I won't be wondering why I am playing an old game. I mean millions of people obviously don't want to play an FF7 remake.

By the way, this was confirmed here: http://elder-geek.com/2010/09/mortal-kombat-hd-kollection-forthcoming/

@golfs4panzys Sorry, I just think the term is a disservice to all the actual remakes out there that developers put a lot of time and care into making new and do a lot more than just up the resolution and maybe add support for a new peripheral.

I prefer just plain 'ports,' because that's really all they are. Not that I don't appreciate them all the same.

@zigie these will be the arcade versions, not the crappy console ports, so no need for the blood code.

also the SNES version didn't have a blood code. that's why the genesis version outsold it. do you know anything about MK?

If you don't want to buy it then don't buy it. It actually is that simple.

Sony took BC out to:
1. Cut costs in order to bring down the MSRP
2. Resolve the known design problems with excess heat from the PS2 chip

These aren't straight ports either so I don't see the evil corporate scheme here. I thought you implied you were educated?

A non backwards compatible PS3 + a PS2 is actually cheaper than a backwards compatible PS3...
