Asura's Wrath looks crazy, but that compelling weirdness isn't just in the visuals for the Capcom title. In a recent interview with Eurogamer, director Seiji Shimoda of developer CyberConnect2 expressed that "drama -- continuous drama -- is also another key point" in the game.
CyberConnect 2 President Hiroshi Matsuyama elaborated, calling the game "very Japanese" and noting that the company doesn't want to hide from that. However, it also plans to incorporate narrative elements found in popular TV shows like Lost, Battlestar Galactica and 24. "That feeling where you're at the end of an episode and you're desperate to know what happens next -- that's a feeling of continuing drama that we want to put in the game," he said. Hopefully Asura's Wrath will work out a better ending than those influential dramas did.

And here comes a wave of debates over the ending for BSG, in 3,2,1...

@edofyingfilms I thought BSG lost its way WAY before the ending...I'd say sometime in season 3...

For the record, I liked BSG's endgame as well.

@edofyingfilms If you hated BSG's ending yet loved Lost's thats just pure hypocrisy. Both series didn't really know what they wanted to do near the end so just offered us a half-assed neatly packaged 'character-ending'.
I looooooved BSG's music and characters though, so I didn't mind as much. Hearing some of that soundtrack still makes me tear up a bit : (

I've never watched Battlestar Gallactica but I did watch every episode of Lost and 24. I thought the last season of 24 was good overall but the ending wasn't all that great. However, the Lost ending was pretty damn epic and I thought was very classy and respectful of those of us spent 6 years of their life with the characters on the island. Lost and the Wire are my two favorite series of all time. Both had fantastic endings in my opinion.

@edofyingfilms I didn't mind BSG's ending as much as others did. I wish they hadn't slapped the "God dunnit" bandaid on the whole thing and gone with a more naturalistic explanation for it all, but still it was a helluva right up til the end.

Ironically, I like it when games take on a clear episodic structure because it gives me a marker for when it's a good time to STOP playing.

If they want me to get interested in the story, they'll have to do something about the overall look of the game first. It just looks way too busy for me.

I think that his definition of "very Japanese" and ours are very different.
Do they really understand just how strange they are?
Spiky hair and martial arts doesn't necessarily make stuff Japanese.

And a crazy deity taking fifty spears to the chest, then ripping them out just to get uppercutted 50 feet into the air, and all that just to have Space Buddha bring down the Alien-Buddhist Finger on his ass, making him sprout like 10 arms to try and punch it away (what I assume at least)
isn't Japanese...?

"Do they really understand just how strange they are?"
Given that they live there, they've probably got a better understanding of it than observing westerners. Of course they also probably don't think it's that strange, and instead think it's weird how everyone over here marks out for violence and space marines

Speaking of LOST, there's supposed to be some new show with Locke and Ben in it. Well, the people who play them, not the characters. They're like old spies who get dragged back into the game or something...

sweet.
I tried watching the event on Monday which was supposed to be like Lost and 24's baby ... thought it sucked. I'll watch at least 4 or 5 more episodes but so far I'm not impressed. It's all about Fringe for and my new vice is that show on HBO boardwalk empire ... thats an amazing show.
I kind of wish Lost would partially continue with the "new man in charge" motif as the precursor to a new spinoff with Ben, Walt and Hurley all on the island.

@Johnnynumber5 is powered by cell As far as a LOST-like TV show...I'm really looking forward to The Walking Dead. I've read the comic, and the way the characters interacted with each other reminded me a lot of LOST's first season. No one REALLY knows each other and they're just trying to survive. Leaders emerge and it looks at how people react in a crisis situation. There isn't much in the way of mysteries other than "what's over that ridge?" or "Can we trust the new guy?" but it is compelling.

Why do I get the feeling that this would sell more units if it was renamed to Wrath of the Badass?
Hope I'm wrong but the whole thing seems like it'll be nigh-impossible to market regardless of how good it may play.

Glad to see more games will be using the episode format. Alan Wake and Deadly Premonition used them to great effect just one of the few reasons why I love those two games so much.
