You Don't Know Jack rated by ESRB for 360, Wii, PS3
33
Here's why it's important to beat the ESRB when spilling details on your game. We were so excited to see a listing for THQ's revamped You Don't Know Jack on Wii, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 ... until we read the description and examples of YDKJ's "crude humor."
"The ending credits contain audio commercials of fictitious TV reality programs (e.g., "Farting with the Stars"), which are accompanied by loud flatulent sound effects."
Huh. Well, that sounds ... umm.

Well, while that particular one sounds kinda meh, conceptually it's classic YDKJ. This makes me happier than you can possibly imagine.

It sounds like the fictitious commercials that ran with the original YDKJ, just updated so as not to be ten years out of date or just plain old jokes by now.
Some of the better ones included "Daily Meditation", "Sunshine Suppositories" ("I'm not here to blow sunshine up your ass!" "But *I* am!" *sparkle noises*), "McClintock and McClintock answering machine", "Sam 'n Ella's Farms", and the PSAs brought to you by the US Department of Condescending Paternalism ("Ice. Watch out." "Why?" "Slippery." "Oh." / "Antifreeze. Don't drink that." "Why?" "'Cause it'll kill ya." "Oh.")
So rather than dismaying me, McElroy, you have merely reinforced that what made YDKJ great-- the subversive and twisted sense of humor-- is still in the game, and that THQ hasn't completely gutted it. Clearly, Justin, You Don't Know You Don't Know Jack.

@onan
They can't all be winners; the jokes in the original were usually higher grade than cheap grossout humor. Go look it up and see for yourself.
@LoopyChew
Ah, Philosopher World! Forgot about that. (Incidentally I heard that one for the first time after coming back from a philosophy class. Laughed my ass off at the Utilitarian Roller Coaster.) But we can't forget SPLAT, the yummy alterna-meat.

Those eyes ... it's like Best Buy PC game isle circa 1997 all over again! I can just imagine Lords of Magic, Leisure Suit Larry: Love for Sail, and Jurassic Park Trespasser shelved alongside it.

Yeah, it's standard fare for YDKJ. This is a good thing.
The cross-platform deal gives me pause, but I hope they make this more like 1 vs. 100, with a live flow of updating content. Having all the questions on a disc gets stale too fast.

@CyberKnight Yeah, I assume we'd have to pay for all of those updates though...but yeah, nice to see a decent trivia game coming out. WHY DID YOU CANCEL 1 VS 100, MICROSOFT????

Very excited about this. I hope tha they do it right. There are too many crappy quiz show games out but YDKJ has the pedigree to get it done.

I loved the Chocky the chipmunk commercials, especially the one in Spanish for his Fruity Chocky Corn Puffies cereal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqC5kWTnQE0
Plus the Health Food Store Boy Doll was great. "I ride my bike up and down the Bay, and I really don't mind if you're straight, bi, or gay. Let's go see the dead. We'll have us a ball. I'm the Health Food Store Boy doll. (Birkenstocks sold separately)." - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRZjXFt-gL4

That would be sweet, but a ressurection of the original UK version of YDKJ would also be awesome, Dennis Pennis played the host and it had a thoughly british feel to it. In fact, it is one of my favorite games ever!

No Paul Ruebans as host? The Joke isn't the fart itself but the fact that entainers can do anything and we'd watch/listen basketball players shouldn't be trying to dance unless it's around a defender.

Could be that that example joke was just the easiest to explain in an appropriate manner. Although if that's as crude as it gets then that's not the YDKJ I know.
