Borderlands joins PS3, Xbox 360 greatest hits lineups

The core Borderlands game is now $30 as part of the Xbox 360 and PS3's respective "hits" lineups. If you're interested in the full Borderlands experience, the "Game of the Year Edition,", which includes all four DLC packs (regularly priced at $10 apiece), the math suggests you wait until October 12 for the $60 bundle.

Borderlands' final piece of DLC, "ClapTrap's New Robot Revolution," is set to begin next Tuesday, September 28. There will also be a free update sometime in October, increasing the game's level cap to 69 and rebalancing the title to accommodate the DLC released over the past year.

i thought the platinum games used a silver packaging? or did they stop doing that? either way i don't think it would match to well.

Hmm, I wonder if I actually need all the dlc? I can't quite decide whether I'd rather pay $30 and miss out on the dlc or shell out an extra $30 for some dlc that I may not enjoy. Is the dlc for this game really worth it, or should I just stick to the main story?

I liked the DLC, I say if you're going to get the game wait for the GOTY edition. You will probably end up buying them also.

@doreo once you play you are gonna want the DLC....maybe not Moxxis one but the Zombie Island and General Knoxx for Sure. This game is great!

Never got a chance to play this, as none of my friends have it. Might just get the GOTY edition though.

Me neither. With games having DLCs, I usually wait for them to release a version where all the DLCs are included so I can fully enjoy a game in one go.

and so is mag i got an email from playstation for the news and it showed mag as greatest hiits i sent the link to joystiq but i guess they havent read it

There seems to be a lot of new Greatest Hits coming out like Demons Souls, MAG and Borderlands on tuesday i wonder what other titles are going to be Greatest Hits.

Amazing how well the PS3 blends so well and the 360 clashes so much. Of course vice versa with a green-themed cover art.

Hmm, nothing about Borderlands seemed that "great" to me.

1 Year of Xbox Live Gold: $40-60, depending on where you get it.

...I think it'd be better just to get the Live.

@Mach2 i just want to play games i like and 360 doesnt have the games i ike to play so why buy live and not use it plus, I still life with my parents (im only 18)i dont have to pay my own bills yet. i have a job 10 bucks an hour so i could buy it any week i want

I actually bought a year of Live for $30 recently. After taxes, that's only about 4 hours of menial work. Worth it? Definitely.

Amazing game, bought all the DLC so far, and loved all of them, except Mad Moxxi DLC. Will def be picking up the new DLC when it hits. To those that don't have it, you can get the $30 one and pick up all the DLC but mad moxi and it will be $60, since Mad Moxxi is crap, unless you like Horde/firefight with really hard achievements.

@Disco Ball Or you can spend the same amount - maybe a *tiny* bit more after taxes - on the $60 package and get Mad Moxxi tossed in for practically nothing. I'm not sure why one would aim to spend the same amount to get less, even if that one particular DLC package is inferior to the others...

On top of that, I imagine it won't be hard to find the GOTY version for below MSRP shortly after it launches.

@Disco Ball Well, Moxxi gives you a bank. Which is useful for collecting rare l00t.

so i heard the dlc will come in a 1 time use voucher form instead of it all actually being on the disc. is this true?

Maybe this only applies to the 360 version.

That is most likely the case on the 360, but as in the case of Fallout GoTY, it all came on the disc.

I'm glad to see that Borderlands was a great success. It deserves it.

wow, this is like the 3rd platinum hits box. microsoft sure loves to redesign stuff

Now Bundle all three DLC for the game out for $19.99 on disc, or PSN and XBLA.

Bought it on Direct2Drive for $10 a few days ago. Really enjoying it right now.

Although, for the next one, I'd like a bit more flexibility in character customization.

This sounds really stupid to me.... So the level cap increase to 69 will not be released at the same time as Robot Revolution DLC? So all my XP from the DLC won't count towards level 69??

So what the hell is left to do if I complete all the quests before the cap increase??? Am I the only one thinking this dosen't make any sense?

@Ceroc i agree with you. Not sure why Gearbox thinks this is the best way to handle it. The game is fun, but, probably like you, I don't exactly want to run around just killing things for the experience after having completed all of the missions in the content. Part of the fun, for me, is gaining new levels while playing the missions. I may now wait to get the DLC until the cap is increased.

It was overdue since before its release.

I got this for $20 on Amazon a few months back. I only got the Island of Dr. Ned DLC and heard the Mad Moxxi DLC ain't worth $10. So would this mean we are getting Borderlands 2 in the future? I am glad its a Greatest Hit game it deserves it.

Absolutely amazing game, so addicting, especially if you play it with another person. Cannot wait to play the new DLC, going to try to hold out for the level cap

Anything with 87 bazillion guns is good in my books. I hope there will be a knoxxtrap armory after you kill knoxxtrap. That would be badass.
