Grifball evolves for Halo: Reach, becomes the world's greatest sport
33
It should come as no surprise that we possess a strong affinity for Halo's official multiplayer minigame, Grifball. Though we never thought the time-tested formula of beating the snot out of bomb carriers with gigantic hammers could be improved upon, the new mechanics introduced in Halo: Reach have officially been introduced into the sport's ruleset, giving the proceedings a certain ... je ne sais quoi. Which we believe is French for "jetpacks."

Please forgive my ignorance, as I'm not a fan or one who keeps up on these types of things....
is this indeed a game mode based on a popular online machinima series that has now been incorporated into the official title? I think that's pretty cool.

@Bagels Grifball has been a supported and an official playlist in Halo 3 as part of their rotating Weekend Double XP playlist for some time. It has even been a ranked playlist. Currently, its not officially in the Halo Reach playlist rotation, but count on it being included in the future.

@Bagels
the backstory is that there was one RvB episode where Sarge was shooting at Grif with a sniper, and said "this is the best game since Grifball!" eventually the RvB crew wondered what Grifball would actually be like, and came up with the game. that's why the ball carrier turns orange - that's Grif's armor color, so everyone is beating up on Grif.

Why can't I just search for these games. I don't have time to sign up for things.

No Armor Lock footage I see... I hope they've removed it from the abilities.

That actually looks like a lot of fun with Evade AA in it.

Yes, Bungie really does care about the community. They incorporated the zombies game type that Halo 2 players loved to play just for fun & called it infection. Now they're doing it with Griffball.

Wow, look at how exciting they make new Griffball look in the modern poetions intro...jumping! More running and jumping than an episode of Doctor Who! ;)

As a staff member of GrifballHub.com, the official Fan Site of Grifball, I'd like to thank all of you folks for the excitement, as well as the posting of the video!
Our webmaster and founder is the man who created that highlight video!
We've been doing a TON of different map and variant testing, because Bungie wanted us to hammer out the details first, so they can put it in, hopefully, as it's own playlist!
We've been running a lot of Grifball in Reach Neighborhood Tournaments, or GRUNTs, which allow you to put together a team or join one and play Grifball in Reach!
If you'd like more information, just head over to http://www.grifballhub.com and take a look!

God I feel so behind with Reach. 360 got shipped for repairs on the day of launch. If I'm lucky I can get it back next week (Repair status says done).
Looks awesome, I love Grifball.

this is one of the major reasons i love Halo. not only do you get all the typical gametypes, you get access to all the other completely different stuff people come up with, like Grifball, Jenga, and more.

i'm not sure if it's been adapted to Reach yet, but i played a fair amount of it in Halo 3. i think the map and gametype are in my Halo 3 file share.
basically, on the map Standoff there's a largish flat area with a cliff. off the edge of the cliff there are two towers of stacked concrete dividers. the gametype is infection. the humans spawn on top of the towers, and the zombie spawns on the ground. on the ground there's a bunch of stuff that the zombie can push into all these man cannons. the goal for the zombie is to hit the towers with stuff to make them fall apart and knock the humans off. of course then the goal for the humans is to stay on the tower as long as possible. it's best played with at least 4 people. it's a lot of fun.

also you can search for content on Bungie.net, and also in Reach, i think. i haven't tried yet, but you could search for Jenga and see if anyone has made it yet.
