The director being a former employee of Clover Studio and Platinum Games is all the knowledge about this game I require to be sold on it.

This game looks amazing! Really looking forwards to see what it will turn out to be!

On a side note thou at least the above pic does seem based on a real world location:

One of the most Japanese games I ever played was Okami. Look how that turned out.

I love games based on classical and antiquity myths. I want to see more greek tales/gods, more japanese culture (I loved Ôkami, and Brave Fencer Musashi, for example), more egyptian, more latin american natives myths and legends based games.

The bible has plenty of cool stories, David and Goliath, for instance, would be a great action battle.

@Epoque There is a severe lack of Norse mythology in games. This needs to be rectified.

@original fred: I double that. Norse/nordic culture is great also. I hope Marvel's Thor movie hype it so we can see some great games about it.

For your Norse fix try Too Human, if you haven't already.

@original fred

Eh, Square Enix has been there, done that (Valkyrie Profile games, themes/characters in FF games, etc).

The fact that I know how to pronounce "Einherjar" stands as a testimony to the fact that Norse = overdone. :)

I wouldn't mind more Oriental legends/ themes in games, since as a member of the occidental world, that's unfamiliar to me. But I doubt the Japanese would find it interesting.

Prolly going to be flamed and downvoted for this, but the whole religious thing is a serious turn off for me. I look at the videos and the art and everything and it looks amazing and a worthwhile game, but then I go back the fact that it's a bible game. Which causes me to cringe and turn away. Going to end up passing on this unless I can be reassured that it doesn't end up being preachy or overhanded...

I'm no fan of Christianity, but where do you get that this game will be preachy? Why is it guilty until proven innocent to you? That sounds like stone cold pessimism to me.

@xddga

Given Japanese Entertainment's track record for using Western religious themes, I don't think you have anything to worry about. As the interviewee mentioned, these themes aren't interwoven in their culture, so it's completely foreign fantasy to them.

It's actually kind of humorous to look at Western-religion-infused Japanese media, because themes that have some familiarity or meaning to Westerners tend to be tossed around purely as stylistic devices (see Evangelion, Xenosaga, many others).

If you look at it a little detachedly, from a more foreign perspective, I think you'll be able to see it as just stylish fantasy, rather than being deeply entrenched in the Western Religiosity that turns you off =)

@xddga If you need to avoid media with Biblical or religious themes your going to be down to very little media. Are you afraid you might go Christian or something if you play this game? Do you just hate people who have different beliefs so much that you can't just enjoy some media for what it is?

Reading about this the other day got me jumping around reading about Christian apocrypha and hierarchy of angels for a couple of hours. I'm pretty sure I would have found church more interesting as a kid if it was a weird as some of the extended mythology gets.

I read "doing art for Devil May Cry" and that he worked at Clover and Platinum.

I don't even care about anything else, I'm buying this game ten times.

More J-devs need to think along the same lines. Incorporating different ideas is nice if you can blend it into a solid foundation of strength. It goes wrong when those new ideas take over and do not play to ones strenghts, lessening the overall quality.

Glad this game is getting the recognition it deserves but I also think Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom deserves more attention as well. Looking forward to both fully Japanese creations.

Gaaaah.

That's the third time. You *must* be trolling by now.

The Book of Enoch is no more a part of the Bible than, say, the Epic of Gilgamesh is.
