@Faenix

Yeah, I agree... you're making a survival game with puzzle elements, and the video is just a lot of different ways to kill people? Doesn't that make it just like every other game out there? Not to mention, it doesn't even compare favorably to those other games... such as Bulletstorm, let's say.

Wish they would've focused more on the puzzles and such for their video, for sure. I had thought this was supposed to be a horror game as well, but I'm guessing not so much any more.

"The water isn't even as impressive as you might expect. Though impressive rolling waves washed me from side to side, opening doors to dry rooms didn't change the water levels realistically, which means you can't necessarily expect waves to rush in from one room to put out a fire in another, for example. "

That's just really sad. If they are going to do a whole game based upon water, they had better get it right. Sounds like no such luck here.

That's one aspect I thought they would include, because it's a big factor in the claustrophobic fright of disaster games and movies.

Yeah, I had a feeling this wouldn't pan out too good. Here's hoping the sequel is better, if it gets made.

Not just here I've been hearing "meh" reactions to it. That's £10.20 saved.

@ArkAngel

I agree with the sentiment about wanting to try this anyway, but what's with the dig at Joystiq? At the very least, they provide well-written impressions about games they've played; the final decision, "To buy, or not to buy" rests in your hands. They've given you their advice, the rest is up to you.

I hate when people use review scores as the sole method of judging the quality of the game - or of the site that gave the score.

Erm, have I gone dyslexic and/or illiterate overnight? No matter how many times I read the beginning of this review, it seems to make zero sense:

"During a huge party on the Queen of the World -- a luxury liner filled with the world's rich and privileged -- terrorists attack."

Joystiq readers, please fill me in, but be nice. Thanks.

Translation:
"During a huge party on the Queen of the World -- a luxury liner filled with the world's rich and privileged -- terrorists attack."

It's pretty self-explanatory. Terrorists attack a luxury liner (Queen of the World) filled with people like Bono and Bill Gates (rich people). They want to kill as many people as they can in order to reduce the population due to the eventual lack of natural resources/foods.

I believe its a participle phrase. You could easily replace the "--" with commas and get the same effect. The sentence should still make sense without the participle phrase. But the phrase modifies the noun.

Example: Jill, a girl with a name, likes to jump rope.

Ah geez ... I am apparently dyslexic, or something similar to that. I was reading it as "terrorist attacks", not "terrorists attack" (I flipped which word was singular and which was plural).

Thanks for your input everyone, and let's pretend the original post never happened. Deal?

After playing this game all day and beating it, I have to say... I loved it! It is most definitely not without its flaws, but I had a blast playing it. The concept and execution was very original and I have not played anything quite like it before. My only real complaint was having to listen to that Scoot guy blabbering in my ear the whole time.

Segal's character in Under Seige was a cook, not an engineer.
A closer example is Isaac Clark on a boat.

A boat full of stinking-rich people? Yeah, I'm so worried about their fate at this point, the way the economy is going.

Guns and water don't mix. Maybe it shouldn't have been a shooter. Action/adventure maybe, but not a shooter.

One game where water physics and gunplay worked really well was in the Uncharted upstream level.
