While this in no netflix, it is still a step in the right direction and I'm sure alot of people will have fun with this. However how hard is it to bring netflix to european xbox consoles?

The reason Netflix isn't in Europe is because the Netflix company is based in the US & the amount of money it would cost to ship out DVDs to everyone who would have Netflix in Europe would literally make them bankrupt in a few years.

Problem would be the movies and tv shows distribution rights. See how long it took for Canada to get it? Now, in total, that's only 2 countries (USA & Canada). This time, think of each and all countries in the EU.

Its all about licensing and distribution rights, aka "who gets money."

I doubt the CEO's of Netflix are staying out of Europe because they hate European money. Theres probably tons of legal issues, although Im no expert.

Right now, as popular as Netflix is, they can't afford to build a center specifically in Europe at this time. So shipping movies to them would be the only other alternative. & about the streaming only in Europe, there are a lot of options to stream on Netflix but not every show/movie is streamable. Why would they have Americans full access to streaming & DVD rentals while Europe only has streaming. It's just a bit of a pickle & until they gather enough resources then they'll open up to the rest of the world. Or maybe there just isn't enough demand for Netflix in Europe.

As mentioned above Netflix doesn't have a presence in the EU at the moment as it is only in the US and Canada. What I can't work out is why MS haven't been able to get a partnership with Lovefilm and produce an app. As Lovefilm already has a presence in a few EU countries and offer a streaming option on their site I don't understand why the next step isn't to get a Live app going.

@Prboi Well they are planing to cut costs with the whole DVD business. So now we are all going to be equal and I imagine with all that extra revenue they will take aim at Europe soon. "We are looking at adding a streaming-only option for the USA over the coming months" -Netflix Blog

Well that's a good move & bad move in my book. Good in that now people won't have to order DVD's anymore & wait for them to come. Bad as in now it people would have to wait until the movie is available for stream since they can't order the DVD by mail.

Since when is voice commands a good method of controling the TV, I don't even use the feature on my cell phone. It's a nice option but it's not a good long use feature

Yeah. Seems a lot don't remember that Kinect is extremely limited in language recognition and territory availability.

SKY is expensive, about £41 a month for the full package (~$65), if sports is your thing then its great..

Personally I prefer freeview, doesn't cost anything , has good content and PlayTV is really good. Most of the "great" tv shows end up on the freeview channels.

You know EU is much more than just the UK.

THe Sky Player will be available ONLY in the UK, not the whole EU...
