The PC version is only US$39 on Steam - that'll be my pick (it still has achievements and co-op via GFWL)

@Halwende that's a hard choice...I already bought Case Zero so I get to start at level 5 on XBox...but that's not that big of an advantage. Decisions, decisions.

With you on this one. Wasn't a huge fan of #1. I'll definitely give the free trial of Case Zero a try, though.

I totally agree. I understand some people like the timed aspect, save system, and boss fights, but I just don't. However, after playing and liking Case Zero as much as I did, I know I'll buy it eventually.

Agreed. I didn't really get to play the first one either and I normally don't break my neck to get into the whole zombie killing game craze but this one (and the electrifying wheelchair!!) strangely has me intrigued....does that make me disturbed? lol

I pre-ordered from buy.com and found out it shipped today. I can't wait that long, so I'll swing by Gamestop and pick up one on my way home from work. Since I have 3 360's, I'll probably keep the second game so my friends can play co-op with me.

"Also, love it or hate it, Dead Rising 2 utilizes the same save system as the first."

People didn't hate the manual checkpoints as much as they did the one save slot which could break the game progress.

So no, it's not the same because now there are three save slots.

Thanks for clarifying. The save system sucked balls. I usually finish every game I buy, but DR1 didn't happen for that very reason. I got so frustrated that I vowed to never purchase a sequel. Maybe in a year or two, I'll pick this one up for $20-30...?

@Slayer15 Story? There's really not much to worry about. The big reveal of the first game was who engineered the zombies and where they came from, but it's not really that important (or interesting.)

All you need to know is that there are tons of zombies out there and they REALLY need killing!

Nah. All you need to know is that Willamette is the town the first game takes place in. They mention it a couple times.

Picked this up at the midnight launch last night. I've only put in about an hour and a half, but it's great so far. One thing I really appreciate that hasn't been mentioned in any reviews so far: When you try on a piece of clothing, you have the option to undo it immediately. I didn't mess around with the outfits in the first DR very much, because you were stuck with whatever you put on until you found something different or visited the safe house. It's a small change, but one that really encourages experimentation. Another thing that hasn't been brought up is the difficulty. In the first, the zombies were just too slow to be threatening. In my short time with the sequel, I found myself getting bitten MUCH more frequently than before. They grab you much faster, and the hordes are less clustered and harder to manage.

My only complaint so far is that it performs worse than DR. There are more zombies on screen, but the graphics take a hit. Nothing terrible, but it can be really distracting during cutscenes. The frequent, lengthy load times are also disappointing (playing on 360). The animations are a lot smoother, though, which makes the combat feel significantly less jerky than the original.

Definitely pleased with my purchase. It has all the key elements of the first, with enough improvements to make it feel like a full sequel instead of just an expansion.

I'm pretty sure you could do it at any point when you changed. It may have been only new stuff because I didn't do much with the clothing.

Not to be a hatah, but I'd prefer a review of the complete game (with coverage of co-op and multiplayer) later, rather than an incomplete review sooner. As it is, this review just isn't helpful enough to help sway me to pick it up.

If you can't decide which system to buy it for, go with PS3. The PS3 version feels way more loose, while the 360 controls feel tight.

Wouldn't you want your controls to be tighter? Not really sure what you are trying to get across there, but an action game with 'loose' controls doesn't sound good to me. I have Case Zero and the controls feel fine. I'm pretty sure they will be exactly the same in this.

Tried to play through Dead Rising 1 really quick a couple weeks ago in anticipation to this.

Ironically, ended up being the reason I'm skipping DR2, seeing they're so similar in many points.

@KazamaSogetsu You should try Case Zero then. A $5 commitment that will show you the improvements and whether or not the sequel is worth it.

Are there any day of deals for this? So far I haven't seen any, was hoping for a good sale or gift card or something, but doesn't appear to be a big enough game to justify any of that.
