Star Trek: Infinite Space is a free-to-play, casual browser-based game launching in the summer of 2011. Published by Gameforge (don't worry, you've likely never heard of 'em) and developed by Keen (What's Cooking? With Jamie Oliver, Anno on Wii and DS), it's set during the Deep Space Nine timeline.
Keen Games creative director Antony Christoulakis says, "We consider ourselves very lucky to have this opportunity and we are highly committed to delivering a Star Trek experience fans can be proud of." Wouldn't it be awkward if this freemium game ends up being more compelling than the for-pay (for-now) Star Trek Online?

The DS9 timeline is my favorite part of Trek history. I normally don't do browser games, but I may give this a try.

STO felt like a cheep browser FTP game, so i don't see how this could be any worse.

Ugh....I was hoping it would be Infinite Space re-graphed as a Star Trek game. Which would be awesome.

It's sad that there are so many Star Trek games, and so few good ones. So few that actually do justice to the series.
The fact that one of the best is still the NES version of TOS is a shame considering it was 20 years ago and in that time very few good ones have been made.

But the levels were huge! The first stage alone took me forever to beat.

Had to do a double take at the title. Thought they meant Platinum Games' Infinite Space was coming to Internet browsers. Then I read Star Trek.

I ended up hating STO. Had higher hopes and they were crushed. Here's hoping this one goes better!
