This is so cool. I'm a huge Mizuguchi fan, so I'd love any crazy idea he has, but I'm extremely excited for this.

Something something games as art something something.

This is actually a pretty cool idea. I just feel bad for whoever has to go through all those photos, who knows what people would send in.

I don't see anywhere on the website where it allows anyone to upload photos. So... I guess they aren't allowing them right now.

The trend of getting people to do your work for you under the guise of a competition instead of just paying the money for professional work continues.

And you have a problem with that because...?

@harusame

The problem with that is that I was really cranky this morning and posted something stupid.

Well, there's also a problem in that professionals can't compete with free and this trend for companies to "crowd source" and use content that's "good enough" can arguably be called a race to the bottom.

You could also argue that this cheapens people's own creations and that it gives the company doing the competition an image of being cheap. But I doubt anybody but the professionals really cares about that, or is honestly really hurt by that.

@TheOtherJames

Oh right, because there's an easier way to get massive amounts of photos from members of the general public?

Much easier. They're called stock photos.

Can't find a link anywhere on the website where you can submit pictures. :(

Wow, a Journeyman Project reference on Joystiq. I loved that game when I was a kid. Thanks for the memory.

I had all three too. Including TURBO!

I bet those games suck now, but they were the height of gameplay back then.

This is a brilliant idea. Why? Thousands of people submit photos to be a in game. Then those same thousands of people purchase said game to see their pictures. Watch for "submit your photos" to be in the crowd in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2012.

So the ending is going to basically be a mirage of those 'default' photos that come with a new picture frame or wallet?

If you read the fine print, it's not open to residents of the US or Canada.

Purify everything by shooting the pimples off people's faces in their old photos. That's the way to remember things :)

Terms and Conditions limit the entries to some European countries and Japan. Looks like us Yanks are out of luck. The US isn't one of the countries listed as being able to participate.
