Uncharted 2: Game of the Year edition swings into action October 12

How appropriate! Uncharted 2: Among Thieves -- our 2009 "Game of the Year" -- is finally getting a Game of the Year Edition. The $49.99 package includes the well-received sequel on a Blu-ray disc, as well as a "super voucher" which allows users to download $35 worth of post-launch DLC, including:

PlayStation Heroes Skin Pack
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Multiplayer Pack
Uncharted 2 Siege Expansion Pack
Currency Multiplier which grants Double XP up to level 10 in Multiplayer
Golden Guns option for the AK-47 and the 92FS 9mm pistol for use in Multiplayer
Early access to "Revenge" Booster – you still have to purchase it with in-game cash!
Uncharted: Eye of Indra – Motion Comic Bundle (which includes Episodes 1-4)
Uncharted: Eye of Indra – Rika Raja and Daniel Pinkerton Character Skins
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves – Avatar Pack 1
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves – Avatar Pack 2
Uncharted Avatar Pack 3
Uncharted Avatar Pack 4
Pinball Heroes – Uncharted for the PSP

The Uncharted 2: Game of the Year Edition will launch on October 12. The following Saturday, the game's online multiplayer mode will play host to a playlist featuring Naughty Dog's favorite "The Lab" custom gametypes. A few of the developers will also be online to challenge fans, though we imagine their home-team advantage might make playing against them an exercise in futility.

A voucher? wtf. Why don't they just include it all on the disc?

I'm gonna guess so that people who had the original game can use their old gave saves if they choose to buy the GotY Edition.

I find it extremely frustrating when I buy GotY Editions and my old game saves don't work. Games such as SW:Force Unleased and Batman: AA for example.

@Chowbacca On the other hand it doesn't seem like much of a "GotY" edition if you wind up getting it used and none of the extra content.

Probably so people can't get the disc from a friend and have it all install for free DLC. Sure, you could D/L from a friend but hey, no download times.

Good point, developers really should think these things out when releasing GotY editions. Though their intentions appear to be in good intent, we all know greed is why they get released.

@Yojimb0 PS3 discs can go up to 33.4gb these days. I don't buy it.

I'm pretty sure Naughty Dog doesn't give a **** if you get the DLC or not when you're buying the game used.

AHHHH! Where is eBay?!? I need to sell my copy now in anticipation of AWESOMENESS!! no, but seriously though I probably am going to sell it for this.....cause of the dlc.......and cool looking case...

This is an excellent deal. I've gotten more than my money's worth out of the game and DLC over the past year. I don't see the Uncharted 2 Animated Theme in the list, however...

I also like the "Double XP" option to get you to Level 10 faster. I'm still moving quite slowly through multiplayer and "Double XP" should help new players get competitive quickly. I'd like to see that in other GOTY editions (e.g. Battlefield: BC2, etc).

same here. I've still been playing U2's multiplayer to this day. So much fun! I hope the online community stays strong till U3!!! :-)

If there's anyone who hasn't picked this up yet, do it...there's officially no reason not to at this point.

@Ellimem it doesn't matter if its a sony game or not, its still a great game all around. judging by the star rating people are disagreeing with you, so get over it.

@Ellimem I don't think it has to do with fanboys. It has to do with you saying this is a waste of money. Paying $20 more for the GOTY edition gives $35 worth of content. That's $15 in stuff leftover. I find that worth it and I will be buying this and in no way will I feel like I'm wasting my money. This game was worth the $65 just for the single-player campaign alone, so with the multiplayer and all the added goodies, this is a textbook "deal".

I am sorry, but you have no idea what you are talking about.

Campaign is awesome, but you do not have access to Highrise, Museum or many other maps that came as DLC and are just spectacular.

Skins are also a lot of fun, and apparently there is another DLC in the works too.

Game is fantastic, can't wait for Uncharted 3.

@Ellimem i had to comment cos u cant b out here spreading lies. uncharted 2 multiplayer is one of the best multiplayer games this gen. im now playing halo reach and i honestly had more fun with uncharted 2. im not saying halo isnt fun, its very fun, im just saying that uncharted 2 has a fantastic multiplayer and awesome coop.

alot of gamers just decide that a game should only have singleplayer, and they dont even give the multiplayer a go. and if they do, they have already made up their minds, so it doesnt even matter. all i can say to u all is: its ur loss

Why is it a voucher? Seems kinda dumb I'm sure the blue-ray has enough room for all of that.

I'm guessing to fight pre owned sales but the games already sold a ton

@Jawmuncher They're all DLC. This is the easiest way to do it, no need to remaster the disk.

Encouraging the revenge booster? That's not needed! It's not all that useful anyway.

@spin cycle I find it to be very useful, especially when someone stealth kills ya'

@doubtingthomas only a rookie gets killed by those....unlike CoD, in Uncharted 2 you can roll away from those even after a stealth kill since they dont explode instantly...

I'm really glad Play N Trade didn't have Uncharted 2 in stock. Now I can just get this instead.

I've played the hell out of this game, but it's so odd that I don't own it yet considering the PS3 is technically the only current generation console I own. Will definitely pick this version up, thanks Naughty Dog / SCEA.

That's quite a GOTY edition!

The game is awesome . Online is also very active and great time to spend on, i played it for more than 2 months...still do once in awhile.

I would think that was really cool if I didn't already have most of that stuff...

Uncharted 2 is probably my favorite game of all time, but I can't replay it. It's too linear :-(

Hopefully the third game opens up a little, not like GTA...

As neat as that would be, it's not really an open world kinda game. I LOVE Batman: AA and that works quite well as an open world title cause it all takes place in one location. The Uncharted stories hop all around the globe, so I don't think open world would work that well.

Once again procrastination has served me well, I got the Little Big Planet GOTY, and now I can get this one too.

@RobS the 3rd i pretty much learned my lesson after fallout 3.. if a big game like this is coming out.. you might as well wait a year to buy it. you get a wayyyyy better deal.. this year.. im holding off buying assassins creed brotherhood, fallout new vegas.. and castlevania.. mainly fallout new vegas (i actually had no plans to buy the other 2.)

Cool. Now I'm glad I skipped out on the Uncharted 2 craze until now. (Let the downvoting commence if need be.)

I still wish Naughty Dog would make a new platformer, though. I want a new Jak & Daxter style game.

Now that is what I call a GOTY edition. Plus it's only $49.99

FIX the damn server connections, then I'll get excited again! I still can't get online, even after deleting gave saves/data... Love the game, and was able to get the first 2 COOP trophies, before the dreaded "connection errors" started. Now, all I can play is the SP (which is still fun), but I want to get on the MP one of these days...
