Enslaved DLC will be 'an entirely new experience'
35
According to Ninja Theory chief Tameem Antoniades, the downloadable content for the much-anticipated Enslaved isn't just going to be "an extra few levels kind of thing. It's an entirely new experience," he tells Destructoid in a recent interview. He says that the "extra" content was designed as a whole new project -- the game is a cohesive story and experience in itself, and then the DLC was created from "a little extra time and budget for something totally extra, which is totally optional." Strangely, he couldn't confirm that the DLC would follow the Pigsy character (which is what Namco said about a week ago), but he promises a "meaty" experience nevertheless.
Antoniades also talks more about how the game was developed from a very cinematic point of view -- the company hired real screenwriters and filmmakers to come work on the project, and took inspiration from the idea of "buddy movies, where each character is part of a team," Antoniades says, "and that without each other you can't accomplish the mission." We're very much looking forward to seeing how all of this influence and hard work pans out -- the game will be out next week.

Hmmm, this game is shaping up to look interesting.
Actually, it's really nice to say that about a new IP. That hasn't happened for some time.

@Esposch I wouldn't exactly call it a new IP. When it's a story that has been around for a very long time and been covered by other entertainment mediums. I refer to it more a buddy system Heavenly Sword with pretty Uncharted colors and post apocalyptic world since that's what Gears i mean Unreal Engine 3 is best at... that I am excited to play next week!

Then there is no such thing as a new IP.

It seems like NT are doing alot of ass covering and defensive manouvres lately with this and DMC and after playing the demo (enslaved) I know I wont be buying that game

@zefur For real, the demo sucked balls. I don't know how ANYONE could possibly want to spend $60 on this crap.

@mywhitenoise, I was surprised to learn that the game sucks... I played the demo with really high expectations, but it really felt uninspired. Heavenly Sword was a totally different beast which I loved. This, this is garbage.
The only thing that Ninja Theory excels at is facial animation.

As long as the game isn't as short as Heavenly Sword was (and felt).

The demo was not very impressive, but I still want to try and like this game... for cheaper than day 1 price.

@faceturd The demo was underwhelming (point at the shinny object, press jump, repeat) but I still have high expectations for this game. The character development and plot seem solid so far and the surface has barely been scratched. I also expect there to be much more complexity to the combat and puzzle solving that were not featured in the demo, situations where the characters rely on each other's skills. Anxious for some reviews though.

I think this is just in defense of their groan inducing mistake of announcing DLC before the games release. Content that has already been completed apparently. Saying the DLC is an "entirely new experience" doesn't mean anything to most gamers.

@That Burning Sensation Yeah this whole DLC Scam is aggravating. In the past companies had no problem meeting their deadlines with game completion and now everyone is supposedly slacking. "We could not give you the full experience due to time restrictions blah blah blah.. By the way F U pay me!" The way things are going you have to pay $100 for the full experience. I rather wait for the full product to be realeased on one disc with no unlock codes for stuff that's already in it. I'm looking at you RDR!

Well its alot like if you paid a Taxi driver to drop you off at a store, but insists that you pay MORE if you want him to stop infront so you can get out, rather than you jump out at your destination while he continues to drive.

@That Burning Sensation You must be referring to NYC gypsy cabs. If it was a yellow at least you can take down the medallion number and get someone in trouble. These guys go unchecked. Seems like some of us pay for the restrictions of other companies, so it ends up being a cross platform rule to try to make all copies equal.
I don't want to start with no fanatics here but if the PS3 ( the console that I own) has large bluray disks this stuff should be included if it's a size issue. From what I heard the 360 has some issue with multiple disks. Being that Developers have to pay extra to make it a double disk release like The upcoming Castlevania game. I think the developers should either release the rest of the content as a free dlc for them or charge them if hosting is so expensive. Why should we pay if the room is there? ( if game size is the issue) just don't Gimp the game for others.

Downloaded the demo from work yesterday, forgot about it, and played it for 2 minutes early this morning EST time. I must say the game is pleasing on the eyes, the textures etc. The controls were pretty tight, I wouldn't be surprised if i purchase it.
*GASP!* A non First Person Shooter, Shooter/RPG? LOL reason i say this is from looking at my collection of games...smh.

As a big fan of the work they did with Heavenly Sword, I am looking forward to Enslaved and their Devil May Cry game. A new IP and a fresh reboot on a classic IP, yeah, it's going to be a good time for gamers.

Played the demo kinda felt like Uncharted 2 with some Prince of Persia (The Artsy one) and some bad voice acting. What's with the douche Guido hair & accent? If he is from NY not everyone talk like that maybe Staten Island people. So they brought in some Hollywood people makes sense now why NYC was trashed. For some reason Hollywood loves trashing NYC.

after playing that demo.......... they better focus their energy back on the full game and not this "dlc".

Yeah, when devs talk about DLC before a game is out that always seems odd to me. Odder still?, the people that buy it.

now I know why Capcom chose these guys, well at least now we might get an entirely different DmC from the one that they showed on TGS, and they will release it via DLC. well played Capcom, well played.

did no one seriously enjoy that demo? me and my friend thought it was amazing, AAA status kinda game.
I don't understand why anyone would complain, like Hank above me said, it felt a lot like uncharted, and had cool character development and concepts.

For a game that's coming out so soon, it kind of seems like there hasn't been a lot of hands-on press experience with it (that or I'm blind). Full on previews and such.
Hope its not calculated move to avoid word getting out of questionable quality, although the strong division from people who have played the demo makes me fear for the worse.

It's what made me very interested in the game and decide to preorder it.
