TopWare says Two Worlds 2 is done, disputes SouthPeak's delay claim
18
Awwwkward. Two Worlds 2 was recently delayed in North America until January 2011 because, according to regional publisher SouthPeak, it planned to take the extra time for "heavyweight quality assurance," so the game was "absolutely flawless" for launch. TopWare Interactive, a subsidiary of the game's European publisher Zuxxez, apparently didn't appreciate that messaging and called it "factually incorrect."
Speaking to Gamespot, TopWare's managing director, James Seaman, said the delay was made because of the "exceptionally crowded" holiday season. The company (which oversees Two Worlds 2 developer Reality Pump) allegedly finished all "production, bug testing and localization" work in mid-September and plans to release the game in a few territories on October 21. The January launch in North America will feature the same content as the European release, except for the expected patch updates.
This whole messaging debacle gives us an Alpha Protocol vibe. Hopefully, it'll have a more positive outcome.

If they release it outside NA early, piracy's gonna be a HUGE problem. Gamers don't like to wait for regional releases. They should at least allow for digital distribution right away.

Crowded holiday season will delay games yet they won't delay games for my crowded backlog. How long must I shake my fist?!

That's kind of unfair to the developer. It's painfully obvious from the trailers and whatnot that it's a huge step up from the first game. Even all the previews I read all said the game plays fantastically.

@Muscle Rider when the story is short. it have to impress me and change my mind. Just like Front Mission Evolved i got in expecting only bad (i bought it coz i like robots!) and then caught myself having sooo much fun with it. I will buy Two Worlds 2 at some point because i can't get enough of RPGs , maybe after playing through Atelier Rorona: Alchemist of Arland.

..ok so who is this guy to have anything to say in the first place? I mean, this just seems like trivial bulls**t meant to start some unneeded drama.

I'd wager it being a PR move considering how bad the quality control of the first game was.

It's no longer an "exceptionally crowded" holiday season if everyone keeps delaying their games. Then we just have an exceptionally crowded first quarter! YOU WILL HAVE THE SAME DAMN PROBLEM NO MATTER WHAT. In fact, if they were smart, they'd release it now because I'm sure more games will be pushed back because there are "too many" and then it will stand among the few.
There's only 4 or 5 games I want to buy before the year ends. I was seriously considering this, but if it's coming out next year it'll probably be a no go. Too many fantastic games next year to risk my money on this one.

SouthPeak needs to get their people under control. If I was trying to put my product in the best possible light the last thing I'd need is one of my employees arguing with me in public.

It's a good thing that the ps3 is region free. Sorry South Peak if you just released it on Oct 5 like you were suppose then I would have been buying the game from you.

There's at least a half dozen AAA games coming out early next year. Why would they think they'd do better then?

It's better for them then anyway.... why would you release the sequel to a pretty terrible game right around so many huge releases? They're bound to get piss poor sales if they release the game in October.

It really doesn't matter when Two Worlds 2 launches, its going to have poor sales even if it had no competition. The first was so bad, its already turned off a fair chunk of its marketable audience. I can name 8+ games I'd prioritize before TW2. Good luck SouthPeak, you're doomed!

I prefered the party line of doing ultra badassed quality assurance or whatever it was on it. Given the history of the first once, the idea of it getting a run over with a fine tooth comb seems better than "nah we're cool with it, let's rock"
