Thats really bad in the local market here. Stil, the timing is wrong - we're finally growing against piracy with the PS3 titles and Xbox Live starting to work for Brazilians (before we needed to make an US account).

From what I can tell, developers here are more into mobile games too. Its a shame if Ubisoft indeed cease all operations here.

I'll agree this is bad for the people losing their jobs...

But does this mean no more shovel-crap Imagine games...? If so, I say we throw a sexy party.

Wasn't Brazil the country that just got the PS2 last year?

@Shadowbender That's Sony fault. We have Xbox 360 officialy here since 2006, with Xbox Live coming in the end of this year.

And everybody here imports the games themselves.

I know people that worked there...

The problem is not with the workers, everyone works hard and are awesome, their problem is management. Their boss sucks and everyone is leaving because of him.

They should not let that French guy that thinks he's better than anyone stay in charge, it's now how it works here... People need to have creative freedom, not some stupid boss that thinks he's better than others...

Oh man, when I scrolled all I saw was "Ubisoft" and that "Brazil" font at first and immediately gasped thinking Terry Gilliam's classic was being made into a game. Turns out it is a far less scary (albeit less interesting) story. Great image though, maybe a spoof of Brazil wouldn't be so bad.

Brazil have great creativity and hiring developers here is a little cheaper than in the rest of the world.

Brazilians are inventive, forward-thinking, very creative and can make wonderful things. But the softhouses are not seeing this, they come here forcing brazilian developers to develope WHAT THEY WANT, and don't let them create.

The first Imagine Cup was won by a brazilian team, all the technology companies have lots of brazilian people working for them in their countries, but when they come to hire people to work in brazilian land, they think we are brainless slaves.

C'mon world! We were not affected by the world economic crisis, we are successfully fighting piracy and we have great professionals!
